LG Unveils ThinQ TVs Boasting Artificial Intelligence

Ahead of CES next week, LG is introducing a new smart TV line up, and not only do these TVs come with an advanced image processor, but they come with artificial intelligence as well. The ThinQ artificial intelligence technology will be rolled out into LG’s 2018 OLED and SUPER UHD TVs.

So what are the benefits of having AI in your TV? The technology brings Natural Language Processing (NLP) which provides more intelligent voice-activated control and connectivity. This allows users to have an improved TV experience in several areas. For starters, it will enable a much more streamlined TV set up process and an easier time connecting the TV to game consoles and external sound bars.

When it comes to voice commands, it will make it easier for users to search for information, images and video using a more natural verbal request such as “show me all of the movies this actor has starred in” or “show me yoga videos.” You can also tell the TV to “search for the soundtrack of this movie” or “turn off the TV when this program is over” without repeating the name of the TV program or having to enter a specific time.

On the image quality front, the (Alpha) 9 intelligent processor boasts true-to-life images with rich colors, enhanced sharpness and depth, improved noise reduction and clarity, smoother gradients, and improved contrast and color performance. The 2018 OLED and SUPER UHD TVs also come with 4K Cinema HDR, Dolby Vision and HDR10 support, which all help to provide a more cinematic experience.

LG is unveiling their “TVs of Tomorrow” at CES next week.
