I’m a huge fan of Bodyguardz screen protection. In fact, it already saved my iPhone X from destruction. We’ll get to that in the next post but first, let’s look at the BodyGuardz Trainr Pro Case with Unequal Technology. It is a fantastic case and with the added advantage of an included armband for handsfree carry on the go.

Available in Navy, Gray/Mint or Black, the BodyGuardz Trainr Pro Case with Unequal Technology for Apple iPhone X is an update to one of my favorite iPhone 7 cases. It is thin, light, and offers a degree of protection from drops and bumps that will surprise you.

The case has an MSRP of $49.95. For that price, you not only get a great case but a comfortable armband too. It does not, unfortunately, come with a screen protector. You will want one to use with the case so, when you place your order, I highly recommend getting one too.

To look at it, there’s nothing fancy about the design of the case. It looks like just another TPU case. There is, however, more to this case than meets the eye thanks to the impact-absorbing technology built into it.

Bodyguardz describes the case as offering “three-tier defense.”

The back is a clear polycarbonate that protects the iPhone X’s glass back while not only letting you still see the phone but also allowing the wireless charging to function as designed. (To me, the wireless charging is the killer feature of the iPhone X. I love everything about the phone but, having used a phone with wireless charging for a few months now, I will never go back!)

The sides of the case are made from a different material. It is softer to the touch than the back and has what the company refers to as a ”durable sport-grip elastomer.” The parallel cuts (aka sport-grip) and softness of the material mean you can get and maintain a secure grip on the phone. This is the same “type of lightweight, high-grip elastomer used in fitness wearables.” It is extremely comfortable to hold, and I do find myself able to keep a grip on it far better than I have with other cases.

Finally, embedded in the sides and alone the interior of the top and bottom of the case is a shock-absorbing composite developed by Unequal Technologies.

This material adds to the degree of protection delivered by the Trainr Pro Case.

Here’s what the company has to say about it:

Trainr Pro–a high performance smartphone case designed for the active lifestyle. Featuring lightweight sport-grip materials for your iPhone X, a durable clear back, and Unequal’s patented battle-ready composite padding, Trainr Pro is fit for any situation. Trainr Pro takes it to the next level with a one-of-a-kind removable armband. In a snap, your phone transitions from everyday use to workout ready, and right back again when the workout is over.

Thus, the case looks and feels thin and light but, thanks to the Unequal impact gel injected in case, it is effective at helping to absorb and dissipate impact. Of course, your best bet it so simply not from your phone but, as I discovered, no matter how careful you are, anything can happen.

Bodyguardz understands than anyone looking for a case, one that offers a balance between thin and light and good protection, is likely someone who is going to be active. That’s why they include an armband with the Pro version of the Trainr case. (You can purchase the case alone for $10 less than the $49.95 MSRP of the Trainr Pro.)

The armband is specifically designed for use with the case. The band is a soft neoprene material with Velcro, so it stays put once you strap it on. Grooves in along the sides of the case snap into a hard plastic “cradle” on the arm band. It gets, and maintains, its hold on the phone until you actively go to release it.

This armband design is an upgrade from the version I used with my iPhone 7. That one did the job but was difficult to remove when you were done wearing it. This armband seems to hold the phone just as well as the previous version but is easier to remove. As they put it, the

…one-of-a-kind armband actually works the way you want. No more bulky, awkward armbands that take so much time to set up you lose all motivation. Just snap your Trainr case into the armband and you’re ready to go!

There was a time when I wanted an iPhone case that looked unusual, or fancy or had all sorts of bells and whistles. Those days are long gone. Now I want a case that is as thin and light as possible while offering real protection. After all, my iPhone X was over $1000. This case delivers exactly what I look for in an iPhone case. The addition of the armband is great not only for running but when I take the dog for a walk. I’m a fan, and I think you will be too! Check it out here.
