One of the greatest things about technology is how swiftly features trickle down from “whoa, computers can do that?” to “all computers have that”. Touchscreens are a perfect example; they’ve gone from being expensive and poorly implemented to a must-have in any high-end laptop, and the new HP Spectre x360 15″ is taking full advantage!
The new Spectre is incredibly powerful, with an 8th generation Intel Quad Core processor and a Radeon RX Vega M graphics chip. In english, this means the Spectre can handle 3D photo and video work, edit 4K video, and with two Thunderbolt ports it can even do all that while powering two 4k monitors. Basically, you can run a setup that makes science fiction look unimaginative in comparison. But the Spectre has more than just a ton of raw power, it also has a Corning Gorilla Glass touchscreen, plus an IR camera for fingerprint security. Touchscreens on laptops can be difficult, but it comes with an HP Tilt Pen to make freehand drawing and writing simpler, plus the screen supports both touch and pen inputs together. Basically, HP is looking to merge the best parts of having a tablet with the versatility and power of a laptop.
They didn’t skimp on any features, really: the screen is a 4k resolution, it offers up to 13.5 hours of battery life plus fast charging, and even quad speakers from Bang and Olfusen. So you can sketch out your animated masterpiece, edit down that GoPro footage of your friend wiping out repeatedly while snowboarding, and still enjoy Will Smith in “Bright” in the highest definition possible. Just…maybe don’t admit you watched “Bright”, distract whoever notices what you’re watching with all the other great features of the Spectre!
