TCL’s 2018 6 series
TCL might be known for being a budget TV brand, but their product announcements at CES indicate that they are focused on bringing even more premium features to their TV series, and that includes a major focus on HDR. To that effect, today they announced two new series of 4K UHD TVs with HDR and Dolby Vision.
The new 6 series TVs are focused on performance, and they do so by featuring HDR with Dolby Vision with lots of tech to compliment it. The TV’s contrast control zones provide bright white and deep blacks, while its iPQ engine technology brings precision color performance without having the customer need to tune the picture. The inclusion of HDR Pro Gamma tech allows consumers to adjust the HDR performance according to their environment. This is needed since HDR performance can sometimes be challenging in a bright environment, and this way TV watchers can enjoy HDR content – even in a bright sunny room. The TVs also feature wide color gamut thanks to TCL’s NBP Photon tech.
TCL’s 2018 6 series
The 6 series will also come with a new enhanced Roku TV remote with voice search, 802.11ac wireless, and an Ethernet port. The series be available in 55 and 65-inch models come Spring. Overall, the 6 series will offer lots of performance, and a sleek metal design at a mainstream price.
TCL’s 2018 5 series
The new 5 series will be more affordable than the 6 series but it’s also focused on offering a premium picture experience. Specifically, the 5 series offers TCL’s HDR performance package with Dolby Vision and HDR Dynamic Contrast that helps create a cinematic experience, along with the same iPQ Engine, HDR Pro Gamma, and NBP Photon tech that the 6 series offers. The 5 series will be available in sizes ranging from 43 to 65 inches and will be available in the Spring as well.
Pricing for the 6 series and 5 Series are TBD, but they, of course, will all be Roku TVs.
