We are quite fond of ZTE USA here at Gear Diary. Not only are they the fourth largest smartphone supplier in the US, but the company continues to innovate year after year, so it’s hard to not sing their praises.

ZTE Joins Forces with Two Powerhouse Companies to Take on IoT

And a lot is the same here in Las Vegas for this year’s Consumer Electronics Show as ZTE USA has announced that they have teamed up with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Wearsafe to make an even more superior hardware, with the help of Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 1100 platform and Wearsafe’s personal security platform. What comes from the merger is a discreet wearable device that’s sole purpose is to connect the user to third-parties such as first responders, monitoring companies and most importantly, your family with just the press of a button.

“The work between ZTE, Qualcomm Technologies and Wearsafe will create the next generation of personal safety solutions through a small wearable device,” said Jeff Yee, VP of Product Marketing and Strategy of ZTE Mobile Devices. “A connected personal tracking solution is yet another untapped IoT market and a need from consumers that has not been fulfilled. ZTE looks forward to creating its first-ever personal security device and bringing the solution to market.”

The relationship between ZTE and Wearsafe goes further than just security thanks to Wearsafe’s mobile personal emergency response systems, or mPERS which cloud-based software is integrated into LTE devices that will automatically send user data to whichever third parties you chose.

The partnership with Qualcomm Technologies is a special one, as both have stated that they will be adding to their already existing smartphones and smart watches while delivering always-connected personal trackers that won’t hinder battery life, or ruin current or future devices form factors.
