Ultimate Ears Makes Good on Promise, Brings Pandora Voice Control to BLAST/MEGABLAST

When I reviewed the Ultimate Ears MEGABLAST a few weeks ago, I noted that Ultimate Ears is one of those rare companies who promise device updates and actually deliver! Well, they just proved my point by delivering voice control for Pandora. I already loved the MEGABLAST and I truly love knowing UE will keep making it better.

The UE MEGABLAST is amazing. (Read my review here.) Think about an Amazon Echo that has amazing sound, is wireless and waterproof and you have a sense of this smart speaker. It truly takes Amazon’s voice services to a new level. Unfortunately, when the BLAST and MEGABLAST were released, the music services to which they connected was a bit limited. Yes, you could stream and control Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, and TuneIn by voice. And yes, you could use the built-in Bluetooth to stream from your device. But that was pretty much it.  UE did promise to bring Pandora and Deezer at some future point, but there was no word about Spotify Premium. (And, as you should expect, there is no support for Apple Music anywhere in Amazon’s “echo-system” and it’s unlikely to come at any time soon.) Moreover, if Pandora and Deere were important to potential purchasers, they needed to take UE’s word on an update.

Well, as expected, Ultimate Ears just made good on part of that promise by bringing voice control for Pandora and SiriusXM to the smart speakers.

If, like me, you love Amazon’s Alexa’s voice services, and if, like me, you love Ultimate Ears Speakers… this is a good day. Because just as we know Amazon will continue to make their smart devices better and more powerful, we now know that Ultimate Ears is committed to doing the same with their speakers. As a UE fan, I never had a doubt. Check out Ultimate Ears’ BLAST and MEGABLAST here.
