If you have allergies that flare up periodically and are attempting to fight off things like the common cold and nasal congestion, you should really check out the Everlasting Comfort Ultrasonic Humidifier. We received one and have been putting it through the paces for the past month.
I have to say, even though we’re headed towards the summer, it’s helped out in a major way.
When I first received the Ultrasonic Humidifier, I wasn’t really prepared for what I was in store. It’s actually the first humidifier I can remember using since I was about seven years old, and boy have they come a long way. The model I remember using in the 90’s came with no bells or whistles. It was a clunky block that had to be in the corner of my bedroom to assist in aiding my asthma at night while I slept. I have VERY sensitive sinuses which happen to flare up in the Spring due to pollen and mold and in the winter due to the cold temperatures. But in the past 30 days so much has changed, and it’s all thanks to the Ultrasonic Humidifier.
I received this model in black (it’s also available in white), but it looks super sleek in terms of design. It comes with an assortment of different oils and a sponge that goes to the side of the Humidifier (if you’re into using scents); I felt, though, that over time the scents supplied were a bit too strong for my taste. It’s advised to use four drops of oil, but if you don’t like lingering smells, I would advise cutting that in half. You’ll still get a hint of the scent while using the humidifier, but it will not be completely overbearing.
The Ultrasonic Humidifier comes with a six-liter chamber that loads from the bottom with water but has a sealed cap that allows you to turn the unit onto its base in order to use. You should be sure not to overfill the humidifier with water, leaving about a half-inch from the top empty to avoid leakage. There is also a nifty water indicator window to the side of the Humidifier that you won’t really recognize at night on the black unit, but it’s readily available on the white version and easy to spot. I tend to only use the unit in my bedroom when I’m sleeping, but the living room unit gets a bit more use so I find myself adding more water every 2-3 days to that, whereas the unit in the bedroom I change roughly once a week.
If you tend to use the scents, I suggest wiping down the inside of the chamber with a damp cloth, or something like a Lysol wipe, to get rid of the scent that’s built up on the inside. If you don’t have wipes, then I suggest a drop of dish detergent or soap and let it sit for an hour before dumping and draining.
With my typical use, this humidifier is phenomenal. It’s super quiet, only giving a “gurgling” sound occasionally — every couple hours or so — when it’s filtered through the bulk of its water capacity, but for the most part, it’s unnoticeable. It’s advised to not set your humidifiers on the floor, be they carpet or hardwood, so I purchased a little step stool for our bedroom to keep it on and a table for the living room.
There’s a button on the front of the humidifier that allows you to gauge the mist that comes out of the top of the humidifier from low or high. Obviously the higher you adjust the more liquid is turned into mist and the greater your chances are of needing to add more water, so I tend to leave both of ours at a medium range, and it lasts a while. The cable that comes with the humidifier is not long in any sense of the word so putting it up high on a shelf could pose a problem, so be mindful of this as well.
Despite this, and the lack of multiple sponges for alternating scents, I truly love my humidifiers. So much so that I’ve gone and purchased a few Homekit-enabled smart plugs so I can automate when the humidifier should come on according to the quality of the air in the room. For example, if the humidity in our bedroom reads 40 percent on my Eve Room (a separate accessory not affiliated with the Ultrasonic Humidifier), the smart plug turns itself on, and since my humidifier is always turned on to medium, it will instantly put the room at a comfortable temperature to sleep in. The end result for the two of us is better, more pleasant sleep.
I can’t say enough how much I love my Everlasting Humidifier, and I’m hoping to purchase two more, one as a gift for my mother who wants to take the one in our living room, and the other for our guest room. So if you’re looking for a quiet humidifier that doesn’t have a large footprint, is simple to use, and you won’t have to change often, this should be at the top of your list.
