If you asked me which battery pack has been my longest-running favorite, I’d tell you it’s the mophie powerstation XL that I bought in 2017; it’s been all over the world with me several times. Now, I have a new mophie powerstation plus XL in my backpack, and since I’m predominantly on an iPhone X these days, it’s absolutely perfect.
The 10,000mAh powerstation plus XL portable battery comes with an Apple Lightning connector, an integrated Lightning cable, and a 10W USB-A output to keep all of your devices fully charged while you’re on-the-go. Because the powerstation plus XL has wireless input, you can recharge it using any mophie wireless charging pad or Qi-compatible charger.

The mophie powerstation plus XL measures approximately 5.5″ long by 3.1″ wide by 0.75″ thick, and it weighs 9 ounces. Available in black, heather gray, slate, or the deep blue I was sent, it’s predominantly composed of matte textured blue plastic with a fabric finish on both sides that will prevent scuffs and scratches. I’m showing you the backside first because this battery pack has a built-in trick: you can set it on any Qi-enabled charger to top it off with no need to plug in.
The front side has the mophie logo subtly running up from the bottom right.
On the right side of the battery pack, there are four white LEDs that will display charge left when the button is pressed, or they will show you charging progress by blinking and then glowing steadily when the pack is either plugged in or placed on a Qi charger. I happen to have the Nomad Wireless Hub on my desk, and it works perfectly with it.
Tucked into the right side is an Apple Lightning charger on a 7″ cable.
The mophie powerstation plus XL also charges via a Lightning cable, so if you need to use your cable to charge the battery pack, you can plug the battery pack into your iPhone or iPad for pass-through charging. The 10,000mAh battery is powerful enough to charge more than one device at once, so if you need to share your juice with a friend, they can attach their own USB cable to the built-in 10W USB-A port to top-off.
The mophie powerstation plus XL is the perfect size to stick in your pocket or bag; it doesn’t weigh a lot, and the battery has enough mAh to get you through several days away from a charger. I’ve been knocking around with it in my bag for a couple of weeks, and the fabric is holding up very well. All in all, this is an excellent battery pack if you are using an iPhone or an iPad.
