Inventory appears solid across all colors and storage capacities. The east coast stores appear to have wide availability. I expect that as soon as the west coast comes online and stores open that in-store orders will become available there as well.
This has to be one of the smoothest pre-order seasons for an Apple iPhone release in quite some time. Yesterday I visited several carrier stores as well as the Apple store nearest me (Connecticut) and found either no line or a very short (under 12 people) wait to purchase a new iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max.
If you’ve been contemplating ordering, I recommend you do so now for in-store pickup as the availability can change very quickly from early morning to later in the day.
