The Withings Move ECG Is the First Analog Watch Able to Record Medical Grade ECGs

If you need the ability to easily and affordably monitor your cardiovascular health, then you’ll want to check out the new Withings Move ECG; it’s the world’s first analog watch that is able to record an electrocardiogram (ECG) on-demand. At only $129.99, the Move ECG a heart monitor, sleep tracker, and fitness tracker that everyone can afford.

We’ve covered quite a few of the Withings fitness watches in the past, but the Move ECG is the first to combine “medical grade heart monitoring technology with [Withings] popular connected analog watch design and superior battery life of up to one year, making it easy and enjoyable to wear and monitor health levels from day to night.”

The ability for people to take an ECG in real-time as they experience a symptom such as palpitation or shortness of breath makes the Withings Move ECG a game changer. While providing medical grade measurements, the elegant watch looks nothing like a bulky medical device. With Move ECG we have created a cardiovascular early warning system that can be worn every day, can capture and record cardiovascular events as they occur and help reduce the risks of heart disease. – Eric Carreel, President of Withings

There are three electrodes built into the Withings Move ECG to ensure measurement accuracy. Two electrodes are integrated inside the main body of the watch, and the third is built into the watch’s stainless steel bezel. If the wearer starts to “experience symptoms such as palpitation, they simply need to touch both sides of the bezel to start recording anytime and anywhere.”

It takes less than 30 seconds for a measurement to be taken, and the Move ECG will notify the wearer when the measurement is complete. Readings are synced with the Withings Health Mate app, which will display “whether the heart is beating in a normal pattern or whether there are signs of AFib.” The Health Mate app also displays a detailed graph of long-term heart rate trends and ECG readings. You can then easily share the collected health data with your doctor.

The Withings Move ECG also functions similarly to the Withings Activité line, in that it will track your activities and workouts as well as your sleep — again, storing all data in the Withings Health Mate app. The Move ECG is water-resistant up to 50 meters, and its battery can last up to a year. Because the Withings Move ECG is a medical-grade device, it is currently under review for FDA and CE clearance. Withings will sell the Move ECG for $129.99 starting in the second quarter of 2019; it will come with either a black or white face, and Withings will offer a variety of wristband colors and material options so the watch will best complement your style. You can keep an eye out for it at the Withings site.
