Philips Emphasized Better Health and Better Sleep at CES 2019

One of the biggest emphases placed during CES 2019 was on empowering people to monitor and improve their own personal health. Philips used CES to showcase “intelligent and personalized solutions that are tailored and adaptive to people’s unique needs, motivations, and characteristics.” These are the products and solutions that we thought stood out.

Philips SmartSleep Deep Sleep Headband

The SmartSleep Deep Sleep Headband was introduced at CES 2018, but it has been updated to now include an expanded suite of consumer sleep solutions. “This suite includes the SmartSleep Analyzer, a clinically validated digital analysis tool designed to help people learn more about their sleep challenges and obtain information regarding solutions.”

Using the Deep Sleep Headband in conjunction with its mobile app has been clinically proven to improve the quality of your sleep and increase your daytime energy and alertness during that same sleep time.

If you typically can get to sleep, but you’re lucky if you’re able to get even a full 7 hours of sleep each night, the Philips SmartSleep Deep Sleep Headband offers drug-free sleep enhancement technology.

Philips SmartSleep Snoring Relief Band

Part of getting a good night’s sleep is getting your rest in a room that has a noise level well below your “this will wake me” noise level threshold.

If your partner is a habitual loud snorer, it can mean the difference between a good night’s rest and one where you either never completely fall asleep or one where you are constantly awakened when the noise levels next to you get too high.

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart

I use a Philips Sonicare DiamondClean toothbrush every single day; it’s the one toothbrush that has impressed me so much that when my review unit eventually died, I went and purchased another immediately and didn’t give the expense a second thought because it’s the one toothbrush I swear by (and my dentist approves).

Now, Philips is announcing their latest Sonicare DiamondClean Smart, which — as you’ve likely guessed — pairs their already fantastic toothbrush with an app for better overall mouth health.

Philips is also introducing the Sonicare teledentistry service to North America. This service provides consumers with remote dental consultation from licensed dentists within 24 hours.

The Philips Sonicare app acts as a ‘virtual hub’ for personal oral healthcare helping users to manage their complete oral care on a daily basis and share brushing data with their dental practitioners, putting personalized guidance and advice at their fingertips. Complementing the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart connected toothbrush, the Philips Sonicare app now also has an automated brush head reordering service.

As much as I love my current “dumb” Sonicare DiamondClean toothbrush, the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart looks like a very worthy replacement when the time comes.

Philips SmartMirror Concept

And here’s the mirror that will hopefully be hanging on my bathroom wall one day. I can’t tell you when or if the Philips SmartMirror concept will ever be available, nor can I say what it will sell for (assuming Philips eventually makes it), but it was a big hit on the CES show floor.

Who wouldn’t want a wide, beautiful, connected mirror that lets you see the temperature inside and outside, your last blood pressure reading, your steps for the day (or the day before), the latest news, how you are doing with your shaving or tooth brushing, and your weight all right on your bathroom wall?

Sure, you can already do this to some extent on your phone, but imagine your bathroom mirror giving you the information you need in one central place as you prepare for or unwind from your day … I want this!
