Make Your Iced Coffee at Home with Gourmia’s Cold Brew Coffee Maker

If you are a huge coffee drinker who is looking for a more cost-effective method for making your iced coffees in the morning, the Cold Brew Coffee Maker by Gourmia may be just the thing you need.

Full transparency here: I’m more of a tea drinker than a coffee drinker (hot or cold), so when I received the Gourmia Cold Brew, I told my wife that we would have to try it out for a month together to see if we’d enjoy it. Prior to receiving the Gourmia, Jess would use the barbaric method of brewing coffee, then either pouring it over ice, or she’d add ice to the already hot to-go mug to leave the house. This has been almost eradicated with the Cold Brew Coffee Maker.

The Cold Brew comes with a lid, a filter for your coffee, a basket for your ice, a fountain pitcher that’s removable, and the base unit.

It’s actually a pretty decent brewer with a very simple setup. After adding your desired coffee and water separately, the machine evenly pours your coffee grounds over the water so you don’t end up with a bland tasting brew (Starbucks). Depending on the strength you desire, it could take from 10 to 40 minutes, plus cool down time.

Here are the settings from Gourmia:

Light – 10 minutes

Medium – 20 minutes

Bold – 30 minutes

Concentrate – 40 minutes

Jess tends to like her coffee medium, so I asked her how her coffee came out over the course of the month that she tested. She concluded that she does enjoy the Gourmia, even though her Medium blend tasted rather bland and she had to tinker with it more than she wanted. She fully admitted that she would occasionally go back to her original brew and pour method for her tried and true coffee, but the Cold Brew is great when she’s not in a pinch for time and has more than 20 minutes to get things ready. She also added that she wishes there was a bit more mobile control to the Cold Brew, such as Alexa or Google Assistant for auto-brew, so maybe Gourmia is listening.

Overall would we suggest the Gourmia Cold Brew? Yes, but with some reservations. It’s great for creating coffee in the morning if you plan on getting ready early and maybe going to the gym while it brews, but because it is a rather slow method for brewing coffee, it might make more sense to brew it the night before and store the cold brew in the fridge for the next morning.

What I like: Build quality is nice; Coffee is good once you’ve tweaked it to your liking

What Needs Improvement: Slow to brew, so if you’ll be in a morning rush for time, brew it the night before
