After a 17-year hiatus, the Ford Mustang Mach 1 fastback coupe is back to make its world premiere. The track-ready 480 horsepower limited-edition Mach 1 will come in either a six-speed manual transmission from Ford Performance or 10-speed automatic transmission.

Sporting a newly designed front end and performance features borrowed from its Mustang brethren including the Bullitt, GT350 and GT500, the “2021 Mustang Mach 1 will be the highest-performing Mustang built on the globally-available Gen 6 platform – with the quickest quarter-mile time and most precise steering to help meet the global demand for a Mustang built for both on-road and on-track capability.”

Ford Brings Back the Mustang Mach 1 for 2021

The first Mach 1 debuted in the 1969 model year, and other Mach 1 versions appeared in 1971, 1973, and the last update was in 2003. The 2021 Mustang Mach 1 one will have a specially calibrated 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces 480 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. Everything has been updated to make this a modern, street-legal racing machine.
