Zepp has just revealed its new line of fashionable smartwatches, the Zepp E, which uses AI algorithms to help its wearers better monitor their well-being. The Zepp E has a sleek 3D curved bezel-less design, and it is available with either a round or square watch face. But the Zepp E is set to be more than yet another fitness and sleep-tracker, it will also use AI to give the wearer actionable insights to help regulate their physical and mental well-being.

2020 has been a hard year decade. Many of us — whether intentionally or not — have placed our well-being on the back-burner as we’ve learned to deal with the insane stresses this year has brought while figuring out how to deal with our new normal.  But well-being needs to be talked about more, and I’m interested in any products that might help promote it.

Like many fitness trackers, the Zepp E offers detailed sleep and nap monitoring with sports modes that can track workout activities and daily steps; the watch is water-resistant to 5ATM, so you can wear it while swimming or showering. But the Zepp E goes further by also monitoring blood-oxygen saturation (SpO2), and through its built-in heart monitor, it will soon also measure user’s stress levels through an OTA upgrade. Through the use of AI, it will turn the information gathered about the user’s heart rate and daily activities into a single metric, offering a score that will help guide users better understand the status of their physical condition. With this watch, users will be able to set daily activity goals, including how many steps they want to take or how many calories they want to burn. The Zepp E will also remind users to stand up periodically when they aren’t active enough.

Because it is also a smartwatch, the Zepp E will allow you to set timers, alarm clocks, and even check the weather forecast; it has an always-on display, so you won’t have to flick your wrist to get the time. You can also use it to receive notifications of calls and text messages as they arrive on your smartphone, though that will put a ding on battery life. Through its Bluetooth connection to the user’s smartphone, you’ll be able to play, pause, or skip tracks from the watch while working out — without having to pull out your phone.

The 9mm thin Zepp E has a bright AMOLED screen, and you’ll be able to choose from either the Zepp E Circle or the Zepp E Square style to match your aesthetic. I’m a round-face watch girl, so I am glad to see that as an option. The Zepp E has a smooth black 3D curved bezel-less design that makes it look sleek and stylish; the back is polished stainless steel. A nice touch will be the dozens of watch faces available (5 come loaded on the watch, and you can add others through the Zepp iOS and Android app), and the choice of easily-swappable watch strap designs and colors including metal, leather, and fluoroelastomer. The Zepp E is meant to be worn both day and night, and its battery will last up to 7 days on a single charge if you have it set to receive notifications and use all of the health tracking features, but it can last up to 15 days in basic watch mode.

The Zepp E will be available on August 25th in the US for a starting price of $249. You can learn more about the Zepp E here, and you can pre-order here.
