TCL is set to have a very eventful IFA showing with new products, including two tablets, a senior-focused smartwatch, true wireless earphones, and an exciting new technology to look forward to on future products. There’s a lot to discuss, so let’s jump right in!

TCL 10 TABMAX

First up is the TCL 10 TABMAX, which puts their best-in-class NXTVISION display technology (which we last saw on their 10 Pro smartphone) onto a tablet with a 10.36″ FHD+ display. The 10 TABMAX has 8.3mm narrow bezels and a widescreen layout; it will come with a TCL Stylus so that you can draw, write, or get as creative as you’d like.

Since so many of us are now working or learning from home, TCL recognizes that our devices are probably getting more eye-time than usual, which can mean prolonged exposure to blue light. To solve that eye-strain issue, the TCL 10 TABMAX has intelligent eye protection with no flicker, no harmful blue light, and better tonality in daylight or low-light settings. If you are holding the screen within 25cm (about 10″) of your eyes, the tablet will signal an alarm to remind you to back up a bit to reduce eye strain.

The TCL 10 TABMAX was made with remote working, distance learning, and conference calls in mind; it has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for high definition video calls coupled with an advanced dual-microphone set-up that will provide clearer calls with built-in noise reduction; there’s also a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera. Kids Mode is built-in, so if a youngling is using the tablet for remote learning, a parent can set it up to show a kid-friendly UI with parental controls to ensure that learning time isn’t being spent watching toy unboxing videos on Youtube. An optional Typecover is available for even more productivity, and 4G connectivity is an option if WiFi isn’t always reliable or if work (or school) is sometimes done at the park. The TCL 10 TABMAX will run on Android 10, which means that all of your favorite productivity or learning applications will be available, and you’ll also have access to Google Assistant.

The 10 TABMAX will come with an 8,000mAh battery, a Mali-G72 MP3 800MHz processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal memory with a memory card slot for a MicroSD card (up to 256GB).  The 4G connected TCL 10 TABMAX will sell for 299€, and the WiFi-only version will be 249€; it will be available later this year.

TCL 10 TABMID

If the TCL 10 TABMAX seems a little too unwieldy for your or your child’s needs, take a look at the TCL 10 TABMID. The 10 TABMID features a lighter and sleeker design, and it weighs just 325g (~11.5 ounces) and is only 8.5mm (0.33″) thick. The 10 TABMID has an 8″ FHD IPS display, and it also features NXTVISION, so the tablet will have excellent brightness, contrast, and color at any angle. This tablet will also reduce blue light to help with eye fatigue, and it has a special reading mode that adjusts the screen to black and white while also adjusting brightness and contrast depending on the amount of light in the area.

The 10 TABMID has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls, and it produces excellent sound for video calls, watching shows, and gaming. Like the 10 TABMAX, the 10 TABMID has Kids Mode, so parents can set up a safe environment for learning and play; a fingerprint sensor will allow for easy log-ins; it also runs Android 10, so you’ll have access to Google Voice Assistant and all of your favorite apps and media.

The 10 TABMID will come with a 5,5000mAh battery, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal memory with a memory card slot for a MicroSD card (up to 256GB); it offers both WiFi and 4G connectivity, and it will sell for 229€. Look for it later this year.

TCL MOVETIME Family Watch

Our population is getting older, and not everyone has someone else living at home with them that can be there when a fall occurs or to remind them when it is time to take their medication. The 4G connected TCL MOVETIME Family Watch provides hands-free two-way calling, automatic fall detection, heart rate monitoring, and medication reminders so that seniors can maintain their independence stylishly — because it looks like a typical smartwatch, not some emergency alert device.

TCL has created a customized OS designed to have larger, easier to read watch face and icons, so it will be easier for seniors to operate. The MOVETIME Family Watch will track activities and encourage the wearer to move, just like a typical fitness tracker, and it will also monitor sleep as well as heart rate — checking for any irregularities that might show up over time. The wearer can stay connected with family and friends by sending voice or text messages through the watch; they’ll also be able to share emojis right from their wrist. A hands-free request will allow the wearer to make phone calls to their contacts. But most importantly, the MOVETIME Family Watch will offer the wearer (and their family who doesn’t live with them) peace of mind because it has built-in fall detection. If a fall is detected, the watch will send an alert within 60 seconds to assigned emergency contacts, giving the wearer’s precise location; if a mistake has been made or all is fine, the wearer can also dismiss the alert.

The watch battery can handle up to two hours of call time, but if a lot of calls aren’t being made, it should last for up to two days before needing a recharge. The MOVETIME Family Watch will be available in North America and Europe this fall for 229€.

TCL MOVEAUDIO S200 True Wireless Headphones

If you’ve wanted a set of true wireless headphones, the relatively inexpensive TCL MOVEAUDIO S200 should pique your interest. Not only do these in-ear headphones use noise reduction technology to reduce background noise and provide where you are easily heard and understood. They are made to provide an excellent listening experience when you are listening to music; because they use a low-latency Bluetooth 5.0 connection, there won’t be any lags when you are watching movies or playing games. They are made to fit snugly and securely and be comfortable enough for all-day wear; you can expect 3.5 hours of battery life from them, with the charging case providing up to 23 hours of battery life total.

The MOVEAUDIO S200 True Wireless Headphones have an IP54 rating, so they are waterproof, dustproof, and, most importantly — sweatproof. They have intuitive touch controls so that you can adjust volume, play, pause, accept and disconnect calls, as well as summon Siri or the Google Voice Assistant.

Best of all, the TCL MOVEAUDIO S200 True Wireless Headphones will be available at the end of this month for just 99€.

So let’s talk about one of the new technologies that TCL is developing!

TCL NXTPAPER

Imagine a paperlike, full-color screen that offers eye protection with no flickering or blue light. When compared to eInk, NXTPAPER has a 25% higher contrast; it’s ? thinner than the typical LED panel, and it’s also 65% more power-efficient than the standard LED panel, so a smaller battery can be used that still lasts for hours.

TCL NXTPAPER is specifically designed for larger devices such as tablets, and it will be ideal for learning and reading, but it will also allow for smooth video playback. I look forward to seeing it in action!
