Our friends at Ring announced a bunch of really cool new products today that already have the internet buzzing. The most surprising of them all is the Always Home Cam, an autonomous drone that will fly around your house, allowing you to check on multiple rooms while you’re out. Check out the rest of the 2021 Ring lineup below.
The Ring Always Home Cam
Ring’s 2021 product announcement came without warning, much like an autonomous drone might sneak up on you in the night. The hum of a drone’s rotors is what Ring calls “privacy you can hear” with its Always Home Cam. The Always Home Cam is designed to fly to pre-selected locations, which lets you check on your home at all times without being limited to a single view. It looks like the Always Home Cam works with a charging dock and flies using four rotors protected by a cage, so you shouldn’t have any issues with the rotating blades. The Always Home Cam will retail for $249.99.
Ring also announced the Ring Mailbox Sensor ($29.99) that will tell you when your mailbox has been opened and will trigger your Ring cameras to turn on and start recording.
The Ring Car Alarm
While not as shocking as an autonomous drone, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that Ring is getting into the car security game. With the Ring Car Alarm ($59.99), you get a reasonably low-cost device that plugs into your car’s ODB port, and it will alert you to bumps, break-ins, tows, and more via the Ring app. The Ring Car Cam ($199.99) is a security camera for your car with 2 HD cameras that will alert you in the case of attempted break-ins as well as providing Emergency Crash Assistance as well as custom Alexa commands like “Traffic Stop.” To use “Traffic Stop,” you say, “Alexa, I’m getting pulled over,” and it’ll record the interaction and save it to the cloud while keeping family and friends aware.
The Ring Car Connect
The Ring Car Connect ($199.99) is an API for car manufacturers that allows customers to receive mobile alerts for detected events, watch recorded video footage, and confirm whether your car is locked or unlocked. The first compatible vehicles will be Tesla models, S, 3, X, and Y.
The Ring Mailbox Sensor
