Inspired by Star Wars, Anker has announced that their Nebula Capsule II Star Wars R2-D2 Limited Edition Smart Mini Projector is now available for purchase. With only 1000 units available for sale, the Capsule II Star Wars projector may share similar specs to Nebula’s stock model, but there are two distinct differences. First, it will have a limited edition design resembling R2D2 — one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars saga. And second, the start-up sound for this Capsule II will sound like R2-D2 as well.
At $699.99, there’s a bit of a price increase from the stock $469.99 Nebula Capsule II model due to it being a special edition limited to 1000 ever being made. Still, the Nebula Capsule II Star Wars R2D2 Limited Edition Smart Mini Protector is an absolutely fantastic way for Star Wars fans to project favorite apps like Netflix, Hulu, or Plex onto any wall or other flat surface, even outdoors.
What makes the Nebula Capsule II so special is its portability, as it’s comparable to a soda can in size. It runs Android TV natively, and with it, you have access to over 5,000 apps; you can use it to cast content via Chromecast, and you can use voice commands with the Google Assistant. You’ll be able to go from watching content in your Living Room to the backyard simply by picking it up and moving it, which is great for socially distanced viewing parties with the family and neighbors.
What surprised me specifically about the Nebula Capsule II projector is its battery life. For such a small footprint, it packs up to four hours of playtime on a single charge, which is ironically the length of most of the Star Wars films and their bonus features. I’d suggest connecting it to a battery pack or another power source if you’re planning a movie marathon, but just imagine — this would be great for a night of camping under the stars to watch a film or TV show, thanks to its built-in speakers.
The Capsule II’s internal speakers resemble a traditional Bluetooth speaker, in my opinion, so it will give a great sound close-up and for use up to 15-20 feet or so. But over that, the sounds of nature will drown things out a bit when you’re outdoors.
With over a 100” image, built-in Chromecast capability so you can stream from your phone, and Google Assistant to ask the Capsule to do a command like “Play Ambient Music on Youtube,” the Nebula Capsule II Star Wars R2-D2 Limited Edition Smart Mini Projector can do so much. And with Stars Wars day coming up very soon, this is the perfect gift for the little Skywalker in us all.
