Logitech MX Keys and MX Master 3 Review: Update Your Workspace with This Intelligent Keyboard and Mouse

Logitech is one of the leaders in computer peripherals for a good reason; their products look great and work extremely well. When I was creating my work from home setup, I knew it would only be complete with Logitech behind it, which is why I was so excited to check out the Logitech MX Keys and MX Master 3 mouse.

Logitech MX Keys

Available for $99.99, the Logitech MX Keys works with Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android operating systems, and it’s designed to pair and switch between up to three different devices.

The wireless keyboard can easily connect via a dongle to your laptop or desktop setup, or you can use Bluetooth. I strongly advise using Bluetooth connectivity, so you don’t have to worry about keeping the USB dongle on the side of your computer at all times!

The keyboard has a Graphite color and can be easily paired with the MX Master 3 mouse, which I’ll talk about later. The MX Keys has a plastic build on top of a metal plate, complemented by soft-touch keys that feel great as you type. There’s excellent spacing for the full-sized keyboard, complete with a numeric pad, which in my work field gets heavy usage.

Logitech managed to add versatility with their F-Keys, including the ability to change the brightness of the keyboard itself (there are LED lights individually placed under every key); you can also change the volume of your computer using the F11-F12 keys. There’s a brightness toggle using the F1 &F2 toggles, as well as media controls with the F8 through F10 keys.

There are also proximity sensors built into the keyboard that detect your hands, illuminating the keyboard as you bring your hands to it. The backlit keys will fade off when your hands are removed to help conserve battery life.

The biggest pro to me that the Logitech MX Keys has is the ability to pair to three devices with just a single press. This makes connecting to my MacBook, iPad, or iPhone seamless with just a single keypress. It’s invaluable to be able to use one keyboard for multiple devices when it comes to workflow! The battery life is amazing, giving you up to 10 days of battery with the LED lights on; obviously, leaving the lights off extends that number further.

The MX Keys pairs perfectly with the $99.99 MX Master 3, which also like the MX Keys can pair to three devices. Rather than use my Apple keyboard for gestures, or my MacBooks trackpad, I ALWAYS use the MX Master 3.

After using the MX Master 3 for the past few months, I’d actually refuse to use another mouse for my workflow. It conforms to my hand thanks to its ergonomic design, and it’s comfortable to use for hours on end regardless of the task. The machined metal scroll wheel on the top of the mouse is silent, fast, and feels great under my fingers.

In my daily quest to escape “Excel-hell,” there are gestured shortcuts that can be completed in particular apps thanks to the gesture buttons under the machined metal side scroll wheel.

I’m sure it sounds outrageous to say that gestures on a mouse can make your workflow a bit easier, but hear me out. Your thumb on most mice doesn’t have a function other than to glide your mouse around — and Logitech thought about this. Putting your thumb to work, the MX Master 3 has two buttons that allow you to do/undo tasks depending on the app quickly.

Currently, I have the down gesture to pull up Mission Control on my Mac so I can see all running apps in one window, versus minimizing what I’m doing to quickly do a google search. The thumbwheel is great for maneuvering side to side in apps like Excel or even Final Cut Pro. All of these gestures are fully customizable thanks to the Logi Options app that is universal on both Windows and Mac.

Incredibly, I haven’t charged up my MX Master 3 mouse since May 23rd, and it’s still working. According to Logitech, you can get up to 70 days of battery life on a single charge, which is great if you forget to recharge things regularly.

When the battery finally does need recharging, you can top it off via USB-C and still use both the MX Master 3 or the MX Keys while charging. At $99.99, the Mx Master 3 isn’t the cheapest on the market, but it’s the best, in my opinion. It looks great, feels incredible, and its built-in functions can actually help speed up your efficiency with the customizable button options.

My desk setup for my home office (and when I return, my work office) wouldn’t be complete without these Logitech devices. Being able to charge up all of my things wirelessly means there’s less clutter, but I can also visibly see their current percentage and notifications without picking them up constantly.

The Logitech MX Keys feel great when typing, and it works perfectly in tandem with the MX Master 3 mouse. If you try the MX Master 3, I promise you that it will be the only mouse you’ll ever want to purchase; it’s amazing.

If you want a low-maintenance setup with high-value execution, you’d be doing yourself a disservice by not picking up the Logitech MX series.
