Rockport Total Motion Sport Mudguard Sneaker Review: Step Out in Comfort and Style

When you think about Rockport, you might think of them as old-fashioned “Dad shoes.” But the company truly has so much more variety and style than that! One of my personal favorites happens to be the Rockport Total Motion Sport Mudguard Sneaker.

Historically, my sneakers have been some variant of black or grey, which tends to be boring after a while. If you’re also a black or grey type, you’ll be happy to know Rockport has those colors in their Total Motion Sport Mudguard sneaker, but I opted for them in “Dress Blues,” which actually have four shades of blue — so that was something different for me to try.

Traditionally I’m a 9 in sneakers, but depending on the cut and style, I can push towards a 9.5. This was the case with the Rockport Total Motion Sport Mudguard Sneaker.

From the side of the shoe, the Rockport Total Motion Sport Mudguard Sneaker gives the impression of a sneaker or a casual shoe, but from the front, they present as a “business casual, dressy” shoe that can go from the boardroom to happy hour. I think this is probably what I appreciate the most about them.

The shoes are super flexible and lightweight on my feet, even with them looking a bit “long” when you unbox them. I never thought my feet looked that big until I saw the length of the Rockport Total Motion Sport Mudguard Sneaker, but when I put them on, I had a weird feeling of “hey, I guess that’s just how big my feet are.”

Rockport states that their full-length TPU stability plate in the sole itself offers substantial support and flexibility. As someone who walks on their tiptoes, I’ve been pretty amazed at how the outsole has held up and hasn’t begun to show wrinkles toward my toe area. On the upper portion of the shoe, there’s some leather that I’m concerned will crease due to how I walk, but so far, they still look great!

Shoes are tough to review since each person’s foot is different, but the Rockport Total Motion Sport Mudguard Sneaker has been an absolute home run in terms of fit, finish, and style for me! I personally advise going half size up due to their cut. Rockport also offers them in medium or wide to best accommodate your foot shape.

Rockport is raising the bar for what a casual shoe style means. The fact that you can look equally good rocking these for casual Friday, running errands, or on a date shows the versatility of their style.

The rubber edges of the Rockport Total Motion Sport Mudguard Sneaker’s sole, the mudguard, and the TPU support mean these can easily handle going from your office to an urban walk or even going a little off the beaten path. You’ll look good and feel good in every setting!

What I Like: Outsole feels fantastic to wear after the initial break-in period; Not too tight around the ankle area, and at the widest point in your foot fits like a glove; Perfect style for casual Friday, dates, and just kicking around

What Needs Improvement: The shoes are not a solid color, so keep that in mind if you prefer solid colors
