Pitaka MagEZ Stand for Tablets Review: Versatile, Adjustable, and It Has an Extra Charging Trick

The Lowdown

The Pitaka MagEZ Stand for Tablets looks great, doesn’t take up too much room, keeps your Qi-enabled devices charged, and is a fantastic, adjustable mount for your iPad. It looks great on my desk, but, more importantly, it is even more useful than I initially expected. Sure, there are other iPad stands that cost less than this one, but I’ve yet to find one that looks or functions as well as this. And none of those can also charge your iPhone and AirPods.

Pros

  • Thin and light
  • Holds iPad securely in portrait or landscape
  • Adjustable angle
  • Qi wireless charger built into the base for your iPhone and AirPods

Cons

  • Nothing

When I do serious writing on my laptop, I use a stand to raise its screen to a comfortable level so I can work more comfortably and efficiently; raising my iPad to a similar eye level has the same impact. The Pitaka MagEZ Stand for Tablets does just that, and it can wirelessly charge your phone or earbuds.

Pitaka MagEZ Stand for Tablets

I recently reviewed the Pitaka MagEZ Case 2 for iPad Pro. It is a great way to protect your iPad without adding too much weight or bulk. It’s great in its own right, but it also has a trick up its sleeve. Embedded inside the case is a metal sticker. You don’t see it when an iPad is in the case, but it is there, and it is designed to work with the Pitaka MagEZ Stand for Tablets. I’ve tried several different iPad stands, but the MagEZ Stand for Tablets is, by far, the best one yet. It is small, has clean, minimalist lines, and does more than just holding an iPad.

Inside the box, you’ll find the MagEZ Stand, a metal sticker, so you don’t need to use Pitaka’s case, a USB Type-A to USB Type-C charging cable, and a setup tool kit.

The stand comes in two pieces that can be put together in seconds using the included screws and wrench. The vertical piece gets inserted and aligned with the base and then the two pieces are secured together using the screws.

The result doesn’t look like much, but this stand is packed with utility. When assembled, the stand is 9.6″ tall with a base that measures 5.3″ by 4.9″; it weighs just about a pound.

The base of the MagEZ Tablet Stand is covered in Pitaka’s Aramid fiber. That means it not only looks great but that it is durable too. The vertical arm is made from Zinc Aluminum Alloy. It looks great and, thus far, seems quite durable.

The tablet mount, a square piece at the top of the vertical arm, is magnetized and can hold up to 2.2 pounds. That means both the folding knife I keep at my desk and the metal tin for my Caliper Swiftsticks stick to it securely. However, what really matters here is that the magnets in the MagEZ Stand for Tablets grab the metal plate embedded in my Pitaka Case and hold the iPad securely in place.

The magnets are strong enough to align the iPad properly and then, once in place, keep the iPad secure. I’ve been using the stand for a few weeks, and I’ve never had an issue with the iPad falling off.

Adjust For Your Comfort: Magnetically attach your iPad Pro 2018/2020/2021 or iPad Air 2020 using a MagEZ Case 2 and comfortably use your tablet as a monitor in landscape mode. Then, simply pivot to portrait position to make a Zoom call. The adjustable tablet stand tilts up (32.5°) and down (-5°) for an angle that meets your viewing needs.

What makes this even more useful is the fact that the tablet mounts easily rotates, so you can flip your iPad from portrait to landscape in seconds without the need to first remove the iPad from the stand. In addition, the angle of the tablet mount is adjustable, so you can get the most comfortable viewing angle possible.

Pitaka has this to say:

Magnetically attach your tablet or iPad to the raised desk stand to comfortably view your screen while you work, watch, or video chat. Easily flip the screen between horizontal and vertical positions as well as tilting forward and back. Attach your MagEZ Case 2 for iPad Pro/iPad Air, or use the metal sticker to secure any tablet.

Honestly, if that were all the MagEZ Stand for Tablets did, I would still recommend it. After all, a minimalist stand that doesn’t call attention to itself and seems to magically hold an iPad securely is no small thing. Paired with a Bluetooth keyboard and a mouse, the iPad becomes a mini-laptop, or it can be used as a second screen for your computer.

In the kitchen, the MagEZ Stand for Tablets lifts the iPad from the countertop, making it easier to see and protect from the inevitable spills that occur while cooking. No matter how you use it, the MagEZ Stand for Tablets is:

Designed ergonomically for eye level, the MagEZ Stand allows you to comfortably work on or view your tablet screen at the perfect position, improving your posture and reducing back and neck strain.

But here’s the thing, the Pitaka MagEZ Stand for tablets doesn’t just hold your iPad. The Aramid-covered base is also a Qi wirelesses charger. That’s why Pitaka includes an AC wall adapter in the box. It works with iPhones or most any device that is Qi-wireless charging enabled. But while the base CAN deliver up to 15W of power, you’ll only get 7.5W when topping off your iPhone, thanks to Apple’s limitations.

Regardless, it is nice to be able to set your phone down when at your desk and know it will get topped off before it is time to head out to your next meeting.

I’ve been using the Pitaka MagEZ Stand for Tablets since the review sample arrived and have been impressed. In fact, I’ve taken to keeping my email open on my iPad and, thanks to the stand, setting the iPad just below one of my computer monitors. That means I have my email accounts in front of me without needing to take up valuable screen space in the process. Pitaka notes that,

With sleek steel aesthetics, this freestanding desktop mount is minimalistic and sturdy enough to hold even the largest tablet.
