Sleep Number PlushComfort Pillow Review: Sweet Dreams and Restful Nights for Raina

The Lowdown

With the other pillows I’ve tried, it seemed I would wake up whenever I rolled over during the night, needing to adjust the pillow to mitigate discomfort. With the Sleep Number PlushComfort Pillow, that just doesn’t happen. I’m sleeping better, my neck and shoulders feel less tense, and I can immediately settle in when I lie down.

Pros

  • Outstanding balance of softness and support
  • Supportive while still soft and enveloping
  • “Re-puffs” during the day for a fresh night of sleep

Cons

  • Nothing — I have finally found “The One!”

We have more pillows in our house than I care to admit, and my wife Raina hates them all. So, we’ve been trying out pillow after pillow, hoping to find “the one,” but until now, the “one” had eluded us, and we have a closet full of pillows to show for it. Then the Sleep Number PlushComfort Pillow arrived for review.

Sleep Number PlushComfort Pillow

After her first night with the Sleep Number PlushComfort Pillow, Raina was cautiously optimistic. She wasn’t sure she liked it, but it was clear she didn’t not like it. After the second night, Raina was a bit more positive. Then, after the third night, she announced, “I love it. I’ll have the review written shortly.”

And she did.

Sleep Number PlushComfort Pillow

Sleep Number describes the PlushComfort Pillow this way:

Silky-soft and hypoallergenic, our PlushComfort down alternative pillow’s microfiber fill mimics the softness of premium down combined with a smooth, brushed cotton cover for plush comfort and support.

Available in Standard and King size and your choice of three different shapes, Raina’s review sample was a king-size Sleep Number PlushComfort Pillow in the classic shape. This particular pillow has a retail price of $69.99 but is currently available for $55.99; depending upon which shape and size you order, prices can vary from $49.99 to $109.99, and all are on sale as of this writing.

Here’s Raina’s review…

Sleep Number PlushComfort Pillow

I love sleeping – and I’m really good at it. I describe myself as a champion sleeper: I can sleep pretty much anytime, anywhere. On a plane? No problem. In a car? Absolutely. An hour after waking up from a whole night of sleep? Definitely. And if I wake up in the middle of the night for any reason, I can get right back to sleep. Sleeping is one of my best skills. (Too bad I can’t figure out how to get paid for it…)

So imagine my chagrin when I discovered that NONE of the dozen or so pillows we have amassed over the years felt comfortable to me anymore. I’d lie down in bed and immediately feel that my neck was out of alignment, or my head wasn’t well-supported, or I’d need to twist my body around to find some magical angle that wouldn’t hurt.

I tried pretty much every pillow in the house: King-size pillows, small pillows, pillows with real feathers, pillows with fake feathers; pillows with regular foam, pillows with memory foam, two pillows stacked on top of each other, and even no pillows at all. I’m embarrassed to admit that I even bought a “My Pillow” – you know, the one shilled by that insane guy who’s one of the captains of Team Orange Menace. (Worst. Pillow. Ever.)

And then — cue the heavenly music — I got a Sleep Number PlushComfort Pillow.

Sleep Number PlushComfort Pillow

The Classic King measures 36 “long by 20” wide and is designed to “gently support your head and neck.” It is described as the best choice for stomach and back sleepers.

After a few moments of struggling to get a case onto this extra-puffy king-size pillow, I set it down on the bed and wondered if I’d finally found “the one.”

Putting my head on the Sleep Number PlushComfort Pillow was almost magical; I immediately noticed that it had an outstanding balance of softness and support, and it truly feels like the perfect pillow for me!

The Sleep Number pillow is soft and enveloping yet substantial and supportive enough that my neck stayed in line with my spine whether I was on my side (how I like to fall asleep) or on my back (how I always wake up). I didn’t have to toss and turn to try to find a comfortable position – it was just instantly comfortable. And it “repuffs” to its original shape during the day;  when I go to bed, it is ready for another night of glorious slumber.

If you feel like your pillow isn’t measuring up, give the Sleep Number PlushComfort pillow a try. Zzzzzzzz….

The king-size Sleep Number PlushComfort Pillow retails for $69.99 (currently on sale for $59.99); it is available directly from the manufacturer.
