For some people, Nokia conjures up visions of indestructible phones where one could play hours of Snake. For others, it’s smartphones that pushed the envelope in interesting ways. No matter what, the point is that Nokia has always meant quality for the price, and their new management under HMD Global is continuing that tradition. They’ve just announced the new Nokia T20, and with a starting price of $249.99, it looks impressive!

The Nokia T20 is coming out swinging on a few fronts. First, it features a 10.4″ 2K screen and stereo OZO Playback Panoramaspeakers, so you’ll get to hear every word you can barely understand on The Great British Baking Show. The screen also features SGS low blue light certification, so those late-night binges will be gentler on your eyes.

The T20 has an anodized aluminum body in Ocean Blue with a toughened front glass display; it even has IP52 water and dust resistance, so that’s one less thing to worry about.

With its 8,200mAh battery, you can expect up to 10 hours of video streaming, 15 hours of web surfing, or 7 hours of video calls based on Nokia’s real-life usage. 15W fast charging will make it easy to top off when you’ve run the tablet’s battery down after an intense Netflix marathon.

The Nokia T20 has 4GB RAM and 64GB user memory, but it also supports up to a 512GB microSD card. If you are planning on using it for Zoom or Duo calls, you’ll appreciate the 5-megapixel front camera and two microphones; the 8-megapixel rear camera also has an LED flash.

But here’s where the Nokia T20 is really going to stand out in a crowded tablet market. Nokia promises three years of security updates and two years of operating system upgrades; it ships with Android 11.

Nokia is also throwing in Google Kids Space, so you can easily monitor what your child is up to on the tablet. In my mind, the combination of security updates and Kids Space is a great value! It allows a kid to grow and learn with the tablet, but it also gives parents peace of mind that the tablet is up to date on security and safety.

Spotify Free comes comes preloaded on the Nokia T20, offering access to 70 million tracks and 2.9 million podcasts out of the box, and a 30-day trial to Express VPN will also be included.

The Nokia T20 tablet is coming November 17th in Ocean Blue, starting at $249.99.
