Smart home technology is everywhere these days, and Moen is making it clear that they are the leaders in smart water technology. The Moen Smart Faucet with Motion Control has new touchless technology to control the water’s temperature and flow with simple hand motions or voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The Moen Smart Water Network is a whole-home ecosystem of products that, when working together, provide complete control over the water in one’s home.
Moen Smart Water Network
The Moen Smart Water App will provide you with integrated and advanced experiences if you have more than one Moen Smart Water product installed.
The system not only lets you monitor your Moen products, but it will also help with winterization and burst protection, thereby potentially saving thousands when the inevitable leak occurs. It arrives later this spring.
As the company explains:
The Moen Smart Water Network creates peace of mind through a deeper connection with the water in your home. With one seamless app, you control all the water in your house — from starting a relaxing shower at 112 degrees to confidently shutting off your home’s water completely, from wherever you are.
Of course, the Moen Smart Water network also works with Google Assistant and Alexa for hands-free voice control.
As they further explain:
Only Moen can provide true peace of mind from water leaks and damage in your home, help you whip up your favorite recipes with precision, and enhance your everyday routines with showers customized for you. Seamlessly integrate connected water into your home to control each and every drop.
Of course, a smart water network is only as good as the devices it controls. Thankfully, Moen has announced some compelling fixtures that leverage the new technology.
Moen Smart Faucet with Motion Control
The Moen Smart Faucet with Motion Control is a CES 2022 Innovation Awards Honoree. It has new touchless technology to control water temperature and flow with simple hand motions.
Moen is so confident in their touches technology that they are even offering two models that don’t have a handle at all. These kitchen faucets have what Moen calls MotionSense Wave Technology, and they provide complete hands-free control.
Within the corresponding Moen Smart Water App, you can set default temperatures for hot, warm, and cold, based on your personal preferences, for when the sensor is activated. The app also allows you to select the best gesture scheme to customize the actions.
You can control the faucet by voice, using digital voice assistants, including Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, through the smartphone app, with the handle or the touchless sensor that has enhanced gesture controls.
You can tell the Moen Smart Faucet with Motion Control to dispense metered amounts of water in metric and non-metric measurements from one tablespoon up to 15 gallons! You can also tell it to give exact or generic temperature commands like “105 degrees,” “hot water,” and “cold water.”
You can even combine metered requests with temperature requests, like “1/2 cup of 105-degree water” or “two ounces of hot water.”
If you’ve customized the presets in the Moen Smart Water App, you can say “baby bottle” or “dog bowl,” and the faucet will dispense the precise amount of water at the correct temperature requested.
A “wash hands” command will turn the water on, then pause the flow for 20 seconds while you scrub your hands. This system encourages complete handwashing while helping to conserve water.
Your water usage can be monitored and communicated through the smartphone app to help you better understand your daily consumption so that — if you want to — you can make changes to improve your water footprint.
Moen isn’t just innovating in the faucet space, though. There’s also a new collection of Electronic Add-On Bidet Toilet Seats (eBidets) and Electronic Cleansing Toilets (eToilets). Each leverages Moen’s smart controls system and helps facilitate comfort and cleanliness.
