OPPO Find X5 Pro Combines Futuristic Styling with World-Class Performance and Excellent Cameras

One of the most visually stunning and spec-loaded flagship smartphones released last year was the OPPO Find X3 Pro, and the just-announced OPPO Find X5 Pro promises to be a worthy successor. The Find X5 Pro boasts a clean and modern style, flagship specifications, a huge battery, and top-of-the-line cameras that include enhanced Hasselblad Natural Color Calibration and Master Filters.

The OPPO Find X5 Pro has an ultra-hard microcrystalline ceramic back available in Ceramic White or Glaze Black. The curved and continuous ceramic back panel is anti-fingerprint, comfortable to hold, and will help with heat dissipation.

Considering that ceramic is twice as strong as glass, it shoukd add extra drop protection and scratch resistance. On top of that, the Find X5 Pro’s front display is Gorilla Glass Victus, which is twice as scratch-resistant as Gorilla Glass 6 and can survive drops of up to two meters versus Gorilla Glass 6’s 1.6 meters. In other words, this might be one of the few phones I would consider carrying without a case!

The Ceramic White looks amazing to me!

The Oppo Find X5 Pro has a 6.7″ AMOLED WQHD+ (3216 x 1440) LPTO display with an intelligently managed dynamic refresh rate of 1 to 120Hz that will optimize performance based on what you’re doing. So when you are watching videos, reading, gaming, surfing the web, or taking photos, the phone will offer a higher refresh rate for the smoothest experience when needed. Still, it will also limit battery consumption by slowing down the refresh rate when it’s not.

Powered by the multicore Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, the Find X5 Pro can handle even the most demanding applications and games. Speaking of games, if you are a gamer, you’ll appreciate the touch sampling rate of 1000Hz!

If you’re not sure what a touch sampling rate is exactly, it’s the number of times a screen will detect the user’s touch input in a second. So, in other words, it’s a direct representation of how sensitive the touch screen is to the touch input; the higher the Hz, the less latency, better accuracy, and the smoother the gaming experience.

For comparison sake, the new Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has a touch sampling rate of 240Hz in Game Mode; the OPPO Find X5 Pro blows that away.

Of course, the Find X5 Pro has an IP68 dust and water resistance rating, so you can feel free to bring it with you to the pool and hot tub!

The OPPO Find X5 Pro has a gorgeous 10-bit screen that they say displays more than 1 billion colors, which “creates smooth tonal and color gradations and shows the full depth and range of even the most subtle shifts in color.” The display is capable of 1300nits at peak brightness. Couple that brilliant display with stereo speakers that have Dolby Atmos sound, and you’ve got a great device for gaming and watching videos.

Is it just me, or does that punch-hole selfie cam look smaller than most?

The Find X5 Pro features Hasselblad Natural Colour Calibration in Pro Mode, and there are several Master Filters offered.

So let’s talk about those cameras!

OPPO Find X5 Pro rear cameras

On the front, there is a 32-megapixel Sony IMX 709 punch-hole selfie cam that will automatically switch from an 80º to a 90º wide-angle so that everyone will be in the shot.

On the back, we are once again treated to two flagship Sony IMX 766 50-megapixel lenses in ultra-wide-angle and wide-angle and a 13-megapixel Samsung S5K3M5 telephoto lens that features 5X hybrid optical zoom and 20X digital zoom.

The Find X5 Pro’s wide-angle camera has what OPPO is calling a first-of-its-kind “Five-axis OIS system,” which, combined with OPPO’s proprietary algorithms, counters handshake, reduces noise, and sharpens scenes for even better shots and stabler videos.

Making its debut on the OPPO Find X5 Pro is MariSilicon X, OPPO’s recently-unveiled self-designed imaging NPU. This neural processing unit uses advanced in-house algorithms to deliver a leap in computational photography performance. OPPO says that with MariSilicon X, “the Find X5 Series is the first flagship smartphone series capable of capturing clear 4K Ultra Night Video that can rival what is seen by the human eye.”

Based on a 6nm process crafted for top-tier imaging performance, the MariSilicon X not only packs the most powerful AI computing power available today, it also runs an advanced AI noise reduction (AINR) algorithm designed by the OPPO Research Institute. This means it can detect and reduce noise in each frame, pixel by pixel, while preserving finer detail, skin tone, colour accuracy.

OPPO promises a result that is a four times improvement in perceived night video resolution, with less grain, and with superior color reproduction that makes “4K Ultra Night Video possible for the first time on an Android smartphone, with each frame as clean as a still photo.”

Taking video at night is a huge challenge for smartphones, and it will be interesting to see if the MariSilicon X NPU and the Find X5 Pro will deliver the promised details!

The OPPO Find X5 Po has a 5,000mAh dual-cell battery, which is 500mAh larger than the Find X3 Pro’s battery was. The Find X5 Pro also introduces a Battery Health Engine, which will help the phone maintain optimal battery life over a longer period of time – up to 1600 charging cycles, which OPPO points out is roughly two times the industry standard lifespan.

When it’s time to recharge the battery, the Find X5 Pro has 80W SUPERVOOC Flash-charging technology so that it can be charged from nearly empty to 50% in 12 minutes. It also has 50W AIRVOOC, which will wirelessly charge the phone from almost empty to full in just 47 minutes.
