Expect More Power and Speed from the New Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Mobile Platforms

Do you ever look at your Android phone and think, “Yea, this is great…why would I want to upgrade again?” Qualcomm has an answer for that with their new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 mobile platforms, which aim to bring amazing features and speed to future phones!

Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 1

Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is the latest Qualcomm flagship platform, and you’ll soon see it powering phones from (deep breath): Lenovo, ASUS, ROG, Blackshark, Honor, iQOO, Motorola, Nubia, Oppo, realme, RedMagic, Redmi, vivo, Xiaomi, ZTE, and more.

Basically, 8+ Gen 1 is going to be inside a lot of devices. But what’s so exciting about it?

Snapdragon 8+ Mobile Platform

Well, for starters, Qualcomm is amping up the gaming performance, with 10% faster speeds and up to an extra 60 minutes of battery life while gaming, thanks to better power management.

Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will also support cameras that capture up to 8K HDR video and HDR 10+ photos, so color and detail will be bumped up to a new level.

Finally, the platform will support advanced AI as well as 5G, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Snapdragon Sound (TM), which can support lossless CD-quality music. It’s all the things your phone already does, but faster and with even more power.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is no slouch either, with boosted gaming abilities, support for up to 200MP cameras and 4K video, and of course AI, 5G, WiFi, and Bluetooth.

It will also support Android Ready SE, a security protocol that offers extra security so you can use your phone for digital keys, identity credentials, or digital wallets with a little more assurance your data is safe.

Expect to see Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 in use with HONOR, OPPO, and Xiaomi, among other manufacturers.

  1. I like the sound of 10% faster speeds and up to an extra 60 minutes of battery life while gaming.

  2. An extra hour of battery life while gaming sounds great. What would be the total battery life while gaming then?
