The MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ SoC Will Efficiently Power and Boost the Performance of this Fall’s Flagship Phone Elite

If you thought that the Dimensity 9000 system-on-chip (SoC) has impressive specs, you’ll want to pay attention to the upcoming MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ SoC. If you’ve been hoping for phones with an even more powerful and efficient chip than the Dimensity 9000, the new top-of-the-line Dimensity 9000+ will should fit the bill. And if the last thing you’ve ever thought about was whether or not a smartphone’s SoC sounded impressive, read on, and I’ll give you a few reasons to care.

People having wayyy to much fun while gathered around a phone that may be running the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+

These people look far too happy about having the Dimensity 9000+ in their phones, don’t they?

The components that make up your smartphone’s system-on-chip have everything to do with whether or not your phone will be capable of giving you an enjoyable AI, gaming, multimedia, imaging, or connectivity experience.

Unless you’re someone who only uses the most basic functions and features on your device, the SoC your smartphone runs is critical, as the experience you get when using your smartphone is directly tied to how well that SoC performs.

I get that the average person doesn’t go around saying, “Hey, what processor is your phone using?” or “How do you like the ___’s SoC compared to the ___’s mobile platform?”

Most people never give these things a second thought past the moment they take in all of the features listed on the new phone they’re upgrading.

Even so, I’ll bet you’ve heard people complain because their phone seemed laggy and slow, or their download speeds were terrible in an area when your speeds— using the same carrier — were great, or because their camera can’t seem to take a photo that isn’t blurry or blown out.

These issues are directly tied to how good a phone’s SoC is, and the Dimensity 9000+ is set to directly compete with Qualcomm’s best, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9000+SoC’s key features include:

  • MediaTek Imagiq 790: The flagship 18-bit Hight Dynamic Range Image Signal Processor supports up to 320 megapixels and simultaneous, triple camera, 18-bit HDR video recording. The powerful 9Gpixel/s ISP also supports 4K HDR Video + AI noise reduction, enabling the highest quality results even in extreme low-light scenarios.
  • 3GPP Release-16 5G Modem: The integrated 5G modem amplifies sub-6GHz performance up to 7Gbps downlink using 3CC Carrier Aggregation (300MHz) and supports R16 UL enhancement. The Dimensity 9000+ also integrates 5G/4G Dual SIM Dual Active support andMediaTek’ss 5G UltraSave 2.0 power-saving enhancement suite for improved efficiency.
  • MediaTek MiraVision 790: The Dimensity 9000+ supports the latest 144Hz WQHD+ displays or super-fast 180Hz FullHD+ displays while optimizing power efficiency withMediaTek’ss Intelligent Display Sync 2.0 technology. Furthermore, MediaTek’s latest Wi-Fi Display technology can support up to 4K60 HDR10+ video.
  • Wi-Fi 6E, New GNSS with Beidou III-B1C, and New Bluetooth 5.3: Smartphone users can enjoy seamless connectivity thanks to the chip’s support for the latest Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GNSS standards.

MediaTek Dimensity 9000+

I still marvel at how a few tiny bits of silicon stuck on a pinkie fingernail-sized chip can make all the difference in our mobile device user experience, but they absolutely can and do.

We expect to learn more about the latest flagship phones running this SoC later this fall. In the meantime, you can learn more about the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ mobile platform here.
