Major Updates Coming to the Jabra Elite 10 and Jabra Elite 8 Active True Wireless Earbuds

I’ve been testing the Jabra Elite 10 True Wireless Earbuds, and I think they are fantastic. They are comfortable, have excellent battery life, have impressive and effective active noise cancellation, and, best of all, they sound great. Thanks to updates coming to the Elite 10 and the Elite 8 Active, both models are about to become even more feature-filled.

Let’s look at both updates; since I have the Jabra Elite 10, my experience will be focused on those.

Jabra has been in the business of creating true wireless earbuds (TWE) since the beginning. Each generation has improved the sound they deliver and gotten more comfortable.

When Jabra released its first pair of TWE with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), they went to the extra step of issuing a free update to a model already available so it had ANC, too. It worked but was not the most effective ANC on the market. That has changed, and each successive model has significantly improved upon the ANC.

The Jabra Elite 10 is the company’s most advanced model. Featuring a new design called Jabra ComfortFit, the earbuds are the most comfortable Jabra TWE yet.

Jabra Elite 10

The Jabra Elite 10 sits securely inside the ear yet applies minimal pressure to stay in place. As a result, they can be comfortably worn for hours at a time with minimal ear fatigue. To achieve this, Jabra scanned 62,000 ears before settling on a design for the new oval EarGels.

In addition, for the first time, Jabra is introducing spatial sound with Dolby head tracking. The result is an immersive Dolby Atmosphere listening experience that keeps you at the center of the audio experience even when you move your head.

It isn’t easy to describe the experience entirely, but when combined with new 10mm speakers, it surrounds you with sound. It is a far cry from when earbuds simply pump sound into your ears.

The biggest improvement, however, is in the Jabra Elite 10’s ANC. Twice as effective as their previous offerings, the ANC in the Elite 10 automatically adjusts to the environment to deliver the proper amount of ANC.

For example, if I’m listening to the Elite 10 at home but then taking the dogs for a walk, the earbuds will automatically increase the amount of ANC when I get to the main road, which has a constant parade of cars.

Best of all, using the Sound+ App, you can manually decide if you want ANC, prefer to listen without ANC, or need to activate HearThrough mode so you are better aware of your surroundings.

The Jabra Elite 10 also has 6-mic call technology for crystal clear calls. The six separate microphones can distinguish between your voice and background noise so people on the other side of a call hear every word.

The Jabra Elite 10 delivers eight hours of playback with ANC off, six hours with ANC on, and an additional twenty-one hours of playback thanks to the included battery case with wireless charging.

This combines to create one of the most comfortable, best-sounding true wireless earphones. And while they normally sell for $249, Amazon has them for under $200.

UPDATES ON THE WAY

The Jabra Elite 10 and Jabra Elite 8 Active are about to get even better thanks to free, over-the-air updates coming this month and in March.

The January update will include a new way to easily toggle the Elite 10’s Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), HearThrough, and Sidetone features on and off. New voice tone prompts and the ability to rename the earbuds in the Sound+ app are also included. As Jabra puts it, “This enables enhanced interaction and empowers users to tailor their earbuds to their own/individual preferences.”

The update in March will bring call optimization to the Elite 10 that will increase the audio clarity when the earbuds are used for calls in bustling environments like offices, restaurants, and busy streets. This will be accomplished thanks to Jabra’s latest noise suppression algorithms, which effectively identify and diminish background voices.

The Jabra Elite 8 Active will also get an over-the-air update. In this case, it will include improvements to the Adaptive ANC that, thanks to upgraded wind noise detection technology, will be even more effective in windy conditions when paired with HearThrough.

As Jabra notes,

The 2024 updates elevate the audio quality and enhance the overall functionality and usability of Jabra’s latest generation earbuds.

As previously noted, when Jabra first brought ANC to their TWE, they offered a free update to a model already on the market. Doing so showed their commitment to enhancing the customer experience even after making a sale. These updates follow the same customer-centric model and are just one of the reasons Jabra continually impresses us. Check out the Jabra Elite 10 here.
