For the past two years, Aiper’s robotic pool cleaners have been helping us get the most out of our backyard oasis. While we still get weekly professional cleanings, an Aiper robot keeps the pool bottom and sides debris-free between cleanings. But what about surface debris? That’s where the recently introduced Aiper Surfer S1 Cordless Robotic Pool Skimmer comes in. It promises to be the missing piece of my “clean pool puzzle,” and it delivers.
Living in a backyard surrounded by tall trees means we’re constantly battling leaves, insects, and other debris. It’s annoying enough that I’ve often thought how much easier it would be if the house hadn’t come with a pool. Then again, when we get in on a warm day, all my doubts disappear.
Skimming the pool before each swim session was a necessary but unenjoyable chore, but no longer thanks to the Aiper Surfer S1. This innovative device aims to make skimming pools with a net a thing of the past so you can simply enjoy your pool.
Key Features:
- Solar Charging: The Aiper Surfer S1 ships with an AC adapter for quick charging, but it is also equipped with a solar panel on its top. This allows it to harness the sun’s power for eco-friendly, hassle-free cleaning. If you opt to use solar charging, you simply place the device in your pool, give it some time in the sun, and then let it do its job.
- Superior Battery: Once fully charged, the solar battery of the Aiper Surfer S1 provides up to ten hours of surface cleaning for your pool, making it incredibly efficient and reliable. When the battery runs down, you can leave it in the sun, or if you need to get it working again more quickly, you can plug it in. I love having the option for how to keep it powered up.
- App Support: The Aiper Surfer S1 has a free Android and iOS mobile app. Through the app, you can monitor your device’s performance, check battery levels, view cleaning statistics, and receive alerts, ensuring you have complete control over your pool cleaner. That also means you can keep tabs on the device without going outside to check it.
- Two Cleaning Modes
1. Automatic Cleaning Mode: The device works independently in this mode, allowing you to focus on relaxation.
2. Remote Cleaning Mode: Using the app, you can manually position the device to target specific trouble spots. The remote cleaning mode even guides the Surfer S1 back to the pool’s edge so you can easily empty the collected debris. - Anti-Beaching Columns: Prevent the device from getting stuck.
- Ultrasonic Wave Sensors: Detect walls and prevent collisions, ensuring smooth operation.
The Aiper Surfer S1 can work in pools of all shapes and sizes. It effortlessly removes unwanted debris like leaves, insects, hair, flower petals, and more by skimming along the surface.
The motorized paddle wheels draw power from the solar panel, allowing the device to operate for up to ten hours.
The Aiper Surfer S1’s internal 5L basket is easily accessed from the top of the device, so it can be emptied every few days. This keeps the S1 operating at maximum efficacy without time-consuming maintenance.
I took the Aiper Surfer S1 out of the box and charged it with the wall adapter. After pressing the power button to turn it on, I pushed the center button, and the paddles began spinning. I placed the S1 in the pool and watched as it got to work.
The app was easy to connect to the Aiper Surfer S1, but I’ve simply put it in my pool and let it work automatically. Sure, I like knowing that I can target “problem areas,” but I like the simplicity of the automatic function even more.
I’ve been amazed by how well the Aiper Surfer S1 removes surface debris. As you can see in this video, even when I placed a handful of leaves in front of it, the S1 could remove them quickly and efficiently.
The only challenge I’ve found is that the S1 cannot remove leaves that gather on the steps leading into the pool or around the ladder in the deep end. To address this, I’ve begun pushing the leaves and debris collected in both locations into the main part of the pool. That lets the S1 do its job and keeps the entire pool neat and clean.
The Aiper Surfer S1 is incredibly simple and convenient to use, and thanks to its solar power feature, I only need to fish the device out of the pool to empty and clean the debris basket every few days. The combination of Aiper’s robotic bottom and side cleaners with the Surfer S1 ensures a clean, swimmable pool whenever time and the weather permits.
The Aiper Surfer S1 is packed with smart features designed to make pool maintenance easier and more efficient. Its solar charging capability, superior battery life, app support, and versatile cleaning modes make it a must-have for anyone with a pool who hates skimming each time they want to go in.
With the Aiper Surfer S1, you can say goodbye to manual skimming and hello to a cleaner, more enjoyable pool experience. If you want to simplify your pool maintenance routine, this device is definitely worth considering. I love it and think you will too.
The Aiper Surfer S1 sells for $469.99 (currently on sale for $399.99); it is available directly from the manufacturer and other retailers, including Amazon.
