We’ve tested many headphones and wireless earbuds at Gear Diary over the years. Every once in a while, though, someone takes the standard wireless earbuds and makes them stand out by being really, really good at what they do. Skullcandy‘s new Push line is simply a home run in the wireless earbuds space! We were sent the Skullcandy Push ANC Active and the Sesh ANC Active earbuds. They share some of the same DNA, even with some key differences; let’s take a look!

Skullcandy Push ANC Active and Skullcandy Sesh ANC wireless earbuds

Both are sweat- and water-resistant, can be customized with the Skullcandy app, and offer adjustable stay-aware settings so you can turn the active noise-canceling on and off depending on your needs.

The cases also both come with little stretchy loops on one end. They’re a cool aesthetic choice, yes, but they also come in handy to secure the case inside a backpack, so you’re not frantically searching on the go (admit it, we’ve all been there, digging around muttering about where you left those headphones you desperately needed).

Skullcandy’s companion app is phenomenal. It lets you control the active noise cancellation settings, reprogram tapping to various apps and services, and even tests your hearing to customize your listening experience.

The app also handles updating the firmware for the earbuds, so you’ll always have the most up-to-date experience.

Skullcandy app

One really nifty feature the app offers for both the Skullcandy Push ANC Active and Skullcandy Sesh ANC wireless earbuds is the ability to use an earbud as a remote shutter for your camera.

It’s a very cool, discreet way to take selfies without having to hand the phone off to the person with the longest arms or rely on the selfie timer with everyone madly dashing to get into place.

It may seem minor, but this “extra” feature will elevate the earbuds in your everyday carry.

Skullcandy Push ANC Active earbuds

The Skullcandy Push ANC Active are the earbuds you want on a long bike ride, run, or hike. They have super comfortable ear loops that help secure the buds no matter how actively you move or sweat.

True wireless earbuds have always been an issue for me, and I infamously wiped out on my bike trying to catch a flying earbud. So, if you also have slippery ears, these are your buds.

Even if you don’t have extra sweaty ears, the ear hooks help relieve pressure on your ears, making them more comfortable during extended wear.

The Skullcandy Push ANC Active wireless earbuds case offers a beefy 58 hours of battery life with ANC off, and my tests unofficially seemed to confirm this.

I recently used the Push Active for my calls when working from home, and the earbuds were absolute champs. I’m on the phone for several hours in a typical workday, and the battery life does not disappoint.

Sound-quality-wise, the Skullcandy Push ANC Active wireless earbuds are phenomenal. The sound is good with both the ANC on and off (PSA that you should absolutely turn off the ANC when you’re on your own outdoors for your safety).

Also, the feedback from my day of calls with them was that I sounded clearer than I did with my usual headphones, meaning these are now in my rotation anytime I’m working on the go.

Skullcandy Sesh ANC wireless earbuds

The Skullcandy Sesh ANC wireless earbuds deserve some love, too! They’re more traditional earbuds without ear hooks, but they nestle nicely in your ears and don’t seem to budge much.

Their overall look is more sleek than the Skullcandy Push ANC Actives, and the case is far more pocketable. Note that the smaller case does mean slightly shorter battery life, at 48 hours total. Still, that’s a very respectable amount!

I tested the Skullcandy Sesh ANC wireless earbuds by connecting them to my Roku Streambar. They were handy when I wanted to watch TV without disturbing my son.

The sound quality was so spectacular that I pulled them off, thinking I hadn’t connected them correctly, and the sound was still coming from the soundbar!

With these earbuds, Skullcandy has pulled off a real coup in the true wireless space. The Skullcandy Push ANC Active and Skullcandy Sesh ANC wireless earbuds are budget-friendly, but they punch way above their price in terms of sound quality and features.

I’m not exactly a huge fan of true wireless earbuds (again, wiping out on a bike while your earbud goes flying will do that to you), but the Skullcandy Push ANC Active and Skullcandy Sesh ANC wireless earbuds are enough to make me reconsider!

The Skullcandy Push ANC Active wireless earbuds retail for $99.99, and the Skullcandy Sesh ANC wireless earbuds retail for $89.99; they are available directly from the manufacturer and other retailers, including Amazon (Active and Sesh).
