It’s hard to stand out in a crowded smartphone space, but TCL has really leaned into its screen expertise and worked hard at refining the NXTPAPER experience with each generation. NXTPAPER offers a gentler screen experience where users can go from full ink display to color ink to full color, depending on their desires. The newest iteration, the TCL NXTPAPER 60 Ultra, is the most advanced they’ve made their versatile screens, and they’re adding AI and other productive features to go with it!

First of all, the screen tech is taking a big leap forward in the 60 Ultra. There are seven eye-care technologies in play now: natural light display, zero flickering, blue light purification, reflection-free/anti-glare, dim-light protection, circadian screen comfort, and TruePaper Restoration. The gigantic 7.2″ screen also uses Circular Polarized Light (CPL), where light rotates circularly, similar to natural light.

The idea with all these enhancements is to give your eyes a little bit of a break. We can’t escape the fact that we’re all glued to screens all day, but that doesn’t mean we can’t give our eyes a chance to recuperate. That’s also why it’s about more than just eye strain, with the circadian rhythm feature changing the color saturation to warmer tones as it gets darker. Every little bit helps!

Of course, screen tech isn’t the only thing the TCL NXTPAPER 60 Ultra offers! It’s taking a page from other big phone competitors (and the days of Palm Pilots) and features an optional electromagnetic stylus. There’s also AI-powered note-taking and productivity tools, so you can combine your handwritten notes with voice memos and more! Finally, you can turn on Max Ink Mode to read in peace and not be disturbed by notifications.

You’ll have no issues documenting your adventures either with a 5o-megapixel periscopic telephoto camera. TCL also includes their MuseFilm imaging technology, which lets you fiddle with your photos to make them works of art.

Under the hood, the NXTPAPER 60 Ultra is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7400 plus up to 24GB RAM and 512GB storage. There’s also a 5,200mAh battery with 33W fast charging so you’ll be topped off no matter how long your day gets.

The TCL NXTPAPER 60 Ultra is expected in Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region in September 2025. MSRP is €499 for 256GB and €549 for 512GB. It’s a shame the U.S. isn’t on the guest list!
