The Lowdown
If your property is large, hilly, or filled with obstacles, and if you’re tired of spending your weekends pushing a mower in the sun, then yes, the MAMMOTION LUBA 2 AWD deserves a serious look. The H Version I tested handled everything my uneven, drought-stricken yard threw at it and made it look better than it has in months. It’s expensive, but so is hiring someone to mow your lawn every week, and this robot doesn’t complain, call in sick, or mow over your sprinkler heads.

When life gets chaotic and weekends vanish faster than a cold drink on a hot day, lawn care can slip straight to the bottom of the to-do list. That’s when a robot mower starts to sound less like a luxury and more like salvation. Think of it as a Roomba for your grass, except smarter, stronger, and far more fun to watch in action. Enter the MAMMOTION LUBA 2 AWD, a wire-free, all-wheel-drive robotic mower designed to keep your yard trimmed and tidy without any effort from you.
I’ve been testing the H Version 5000HX, which is rated for lawns up to 1.25 acres, and I’ve come to think of it as a little green monster that knows exactly how to handle itself.
The MAMMOTION LUBA 2 AWD is a full-blown, terrain-conquering smart machine that can handle just about any lawn challenge you throw its way. It’s available in two main versions: the S and the H. The S Version has a cutting height that ranges from 1″ to 2.7″ and is better suited for lawns that stay on the shorter side, while the H Version, like the one I tested, offers a 2.2″ to 4″ cutting range, perfect for thicker, taller grass or anyone who prefers a lusher, more natural look.
Both versions are available in three models: 3000 (0.75 acres), 5000 (1.25 acres), and 10000 (2.5 acres), with a starting price of $2,599. The H 5000HX model I tested sits right in the middle, striking a balance between coverage and capability.
MAMMOTION clearly designed the LUBA 2 AWD series for North American lawns, and it shows. It’s compatible with common grass types, such as Bermuda and Kentucky Bluegrass, and can handle slopes up to 80%, which is equivalent to a staggering 38.6 degrees. If your backyard has more hills than a golf course, this thing is made for you.

What’s in the Box
Out of the box, the LUBA 2 AWD provides everything you need to get mowing quickly. Inside, you’ll find the mower itself, a charging station, a power supply for the charger, an RTK reference station with its own antenna and power supply, an RTK extension cable (a generous 10 meters long), a set of ground stakes, and even an extra set of blades. The RTK system, short for Real-Time Kinematic positioning, is what allows the LUBA to create hyper-accurate maps of your yard without burying any wires. Once set up, it knows exactly where it is at all times, down to the inch.

MAMMOTION includes a quick-start guide that’s actually useful, and there are helpful videos in the app and online if you want more visual guidance. From unboxing to setup, I was ready to mow in under 30 minutes, and that includes setting up the charging base and connecting the RTK station.
Design and Build
The LUBA 2 AWD looks like it means business. It’s not some fragile, plastic toy pretending to be a mower; it’s a chunky, rugged machine built for real-world terrain. With its four large wheels, all-wheel drive, and tough suspension, it’s as if MAMMOTION’s engineers were thinking more “off-road rally car” than “garden gadget.” The suspension system gives it the ability to tackle rough patches, potholes, and even obstacles up to 3.2 inches tall without getting stuck. It just climbs, rolls, and keeps going. I’ve seen it power over wet grass, gravel, and uneven ground without losing its footing, something most robot mowers can’t brag about.

Underneath, you’ll find a 15.7″ dual-cutting disc that houses razor-sharp blades powered by a 165-watt motor. The combination allows it to mow up to 1.25 acres per day, or roughly 0.37 acres per battery charge, which puts it among the fastest in its class. The LUBA 2 AWD uses a 15Ah lithium battery managed by MAMMOTION’s own battery system, which delivers around 120–180 minutes of runtime before it heads back to recharge.
Setting It Up
MAMMOTION’s mobile app does the heavy lifting when it comes to setup. Once the mower and RTK station are paired, you can choose between an automatic mapping mode or a manual one. I personally prefer the manual route because I like knowing the mower’s boundaries are exactly where I want them. I simply drove the LUBA around the perimeter using the app like a remote-control car. Once the perimeter was defined, I could easily mark no-go zones, which is handy for avoiding things like trees, flower beds, or your dog’s favorite sunning spot.

If your property is complex, the LUBA 2 AWD can store up to 100 zones, which means it can remember your front yard, back yard, side yards, and even little patches by the driveway. You can create schedules for each zone, watch the mower’s live video feed, and check its progress in real time. The app also lets you adjust the mowing height on the fly, tweak cutting patterns, and set “no-mow” times.
Performance and Features
Here’s where things get fun. The LUBA 2 AWD isn’t just strong, it’s smart. The UltraSense AI Vision system, powered by a 5 TOPS chip (that’s five trillion operations per second), enables the mower to make real-time decisions about what it sees. It can distinguish between tall grass that needs cutting and obstacles such as rocks, pets, or children. I tested this by leaving random items in the yard — a garden hose, a small chair, and even a soccer ball — and it stopped or avoided each one without hesitation.
The LUBA also uses a combination of cameras, sensors, and satellite data to create a precise map of your property. If the satellite signal drops while it’s working under trees or next to a house, it doesn’t panic. The AI Vision takes over and keeps mowing as if nothing happened. Once the satellite signal returns, everything syncs back up seamlessly. That’s something even high-end competitors like Husqvarna’s Automower 450X or Worx’s Landroid Vision can struggle with in patchy signal areas.

Another impressive feature is the zero-distance edge cutting. Many robot mowers leave a thin strip of uncut grass along edges, forcing you to come back with a trimmer. The LUBA, however, automatically mows right up to walls and fences with less than two inches of clearance, with no manual cleanup needed. Its omnidirectional wheels make tight turns easy, and the front bumper and sensors ensure smooth, stable navigation even in tricky spots.
I let the LUBA tackle tall, dry grass that had been neglected for weeks during a drought, and it didn’t back down. It slowed down, analyzed, and powered through when possible, or simply avoided the sections that were too dry or dense, which probably saved its blades and motor. Once I started watering again, it mowed the revived grass beautifully, leaving those satisfying stripes that make your yard look like a professionally maintained field.

Living with the LUBA
Once the setup is complete, the LUBA becomes one of those devices you barely have to think about. It heads out on schedule, trims the grass efficiently, and then quietly docks itself for a recharge. You can watch it work from the porch, coffee in hand, and feel a smug sense of accomplishment while doing absolutely nothing.
One unexpected perk: the live video feed. It’s surprisingly entertaining to watch your mower’s “point of view” as it zigzags through the yard like it’s on a mission. And yes, my wife and I have sat outside in the evening just watching it work. That has never happened when I’m behind a push mower.
Noise-wise, it’s far quieter than a gas mower; it’s more of a steady hum than an engine roar. You can easily run it early in the morning or after dinner without bothering anyone. MAMMOTION’s theft prevention system also gives some peace of mind; it won’t operate outside its mapped zones and can be tracked via the app if someone tries to move it.

The Drawbacks
As with any high-end gadget, there are trade-offs. The price is significant, starting at $2,599 for the smaller models and increasing from there. While setup is relatively straightforward, getting the RTK base positioned correctly and maintaining a strong signal can take some trial and error, especially if you have lots of trees or structures nearby. The mower’s size and weight also mean it’s not ideal for tiny lawns; it feels most at home on larger properties where it can stretch its legs.
And while the app is generally intuitive, the sheer number of settings and features can feel overwhelming at first. It’s not difficult, but you’ll want to spend a bit of time learning what each option does to make the most of it.

Should You Buy It?
If your property is large, hilly, or filled with obstacles, and if you’re tired of spending your weekends pushing a mower in the sun, then yes, the MAMMOTION LUBA 2 AWD deserves a serious look. The H Version I tested handled everything my uneven, drought-stricken yard threw at it and made it look better than it has in months. It’s expensive, but so is hiring someone to mow your lawn every week, and this robot doesn’t complain, call in sick, or mow over your sprinkler heads.
If your yard is flat, small, and simple, you might be better served by a less expensive model. But for anyone managing more than half an acre of challenging terrain, the LUBA 2 AWD is a reliable, intelligent, and oddly satisfying companion. It’s the kind of machine that makes you want to take care of your lawn again, not because you have to, but because you finally have the perfect partner for it.
The Mammotion Luba 2 AWD S and H versions start at $2,599; it is available directly from the manufacturer and other retailers, including Amazon.
