Ausom DT2 Pro Electric Scooter Review: Dual-Motor Power, Massive Battery, and a Trigger Throttle I Don’t Want to Give Up

The Lowdown

The Ausom DT2 Pro delivers on what matters: real-world speed within a hair of its advertised numbers, torque that conquers hills other scooters can’t, a stable and comfortable ride, and fit and finish that feel premium. The slow charging and hefty weight are the trade-offs, but they’re reasonable for what you get. If you’re shopping for a high-powered, long-range dual-motor scooter, the DT2 Pro earns a strong recommendation.

  • Handlebar height is not adjustable
  • Seat is an additional accessory, not included

The Ausom DT2 Pro is a high-powered dual-motor electric scooter with serious speed, torque, and one of the largest batteries in its class. Its dual 1100W motors, delivering 2912W at peak, conquered a steep hill that has humbled other scooters we’ve tested, while the finger-trigger throttle is a welcome upgrade over the usual thumb paddle. The ride is stable and comfortable, with excellent fit and finish and strong hydraulic brakes. But it’s heavy, charges slowly, and lacks adjustable handlebars. Do its power, range, and refinement make it easy to recommend?

Ausom DT2 Pro

The Ausom DT2 Pro is the company’s flagship 52V dual-motor scooter, built around two 1100W motors, a huge 1216.8Wh battery, and a marketed top speed of 40 mph with up to 71 miles of range. It carries an MSRP of $1,349, though it’s currently on sale for $1,149 as part of Ausom’s Soccer Season Sale. We spent two weeks riding the DT2 Pro to see whether the performance claims hold up in the real world—and for the most part, they absolutely do.

Ausom sent us a review sample of the DT2 Pro, and from the moment we unboxed it, the build quality made a strong first impression.

Quick Specs:

Ausom DT2 Pro Electric Scooter

The Ausom DT2 Pro looks and feels like a premium machine. The frame is 6061 aluminum alloy, the welds and joints are clean, and nothing about it feels like an afterthought. The LED ambient lighting is a genuinely nice touch—it adds style without being gaudy, and combined with the headlight, taillight, and side indicators, it keeps you visible at night.

Most importantly, the construction is rock solid. Over two weeks of riding, including runs at high speed, there was no wobble, no creaking, and no flex in the stem or deck. On a scooter capable of nearly 40 mph, that stability isn’t a luxury—it’s a requirement, and the DT2 Pro nails it.

The deck is wide and spacious at 20.7 x 7.1 inches, and the rear foot tail gives you a natural place to plant your back foot. It sounds like a small thing, but it makes a real difference in comfort on longer rides, letting you settle into a stable, relaxed stance.

The Ausom DT2 Pro folds for storage, which is convenient for a trunk or garage, but let’s be realistic: at 74 pounds, you’re not casually carrying this thing up a flight of stairs. The weight is the price you pay for dual motors and a battery this large.

Ausom markets the DT2 Pro with a top speed of up to 40 mph. In my personal testing, here’s what I actually hit in each mode:

Eco Mode:

Sport Mode:

Race Mode:

So my top recorded speed on the Ausom DT2 Pro was 39 mph in Race mode with both motors engaged—just a hair under the advertised 40 mph. That’s close enough that I’d call the claim honest; rider weight, tire pressure, terrain, and battery level all affect top speed, and getting within 1 mph of the marketing number is a good result in our experience.

One interesting finding: top speeds were nearly identical between single and dual motor operation within each mode. The real difference isn’t top speed—it’s acceleration.

Switch from single to dual motor and the Ausom DT2 Pro transforms. Single motor mode accelerates gently and is perfectly fine for cruising and maximizing range. Dual motor mode delivers a genuine shove of torque that gets you up to speed quickly and confidently.

Where that torque really shines is on hills. There’s a steep hill on my regular testing route that has made other scooters struggle and crawl. The DT2 Pro went up it extremely easily in dual motor mode, without bogging down or losing meaningful speed. Ausom rates the scooter for 36% grades, and based on my hill testing, I believe it. If your commute or riding area involves serious inclines, the dual-motor setup is worth it for this alone.

This might sound like a minor detail, but it was one of my favorite things about the Ausom DT2 Pro: the throttle is a finger trigger rather than the thumb paddle found on most scooters. To me, it’s a lot more comfortable. It lets you keep your thumb fully wrapped around the grip, which improves your hold on the handlebar and enhances your sense of control—especially at higher speeds, where grip security matters most.

The palm grips are nice and comfortable, too, and, paired with the trigger throttle, the whole cockpit feels more natural than on most scooters I’ve ridden.

One caveat: ergonomics are personal. My wife tried the Ausom DT2 Pro and said the trigger throttle didn’t fit her hand well, so your mileage may vary. If you have smaller hands, it’s worth trying before committing—but for my hands, it’s a clear upgrade over a thumb throttle.

The 4.5-inch LCD display rounds out the cockpit. It’s large, easy to read at a glance, and clearly shows your speed, mode, and battery level. There’s no companion app, which some riders may miss, but the onboard display and hidden settings menu cover the essentials.

The Ausom DT2 Pro’s ride quality was surprisingly good. The dual-swing-arm suspension soaks up rough pavement and keeps the ride composed, and the 10″ x 3″ tubeless tires add another layer of cushioning while resisting punctures. With its suspension, wide tires, roomy deck, and foot tail, the DT2 Pro is a comfortable scooter to spend time on.

Braking is handled by hydraulic disc brakes front and rear, backed by E-ABS. I was able to stop well and confidently, even from higher speeds. On a scooter with this much power, strong brakes are non-negotiable, and the DT2 Pro’s setup is up to the task. The E-ABS force is also adjustable through the hidden settings menu if you prefer a stronger or gentler electronic braking feel.

The 1216.8Wh battery (52V, 23.4Ah) is the heart of the DT2 Pro, and Ausom markets up to 71 miles of range from it. I wasn’t able to run a full-range test during my two weeks with the scooter, so I can’t verify that number—and, as with all e-scooter range claims, expect the real-world figure to depend heavily on rider weight, speed mode, terrain, and temperature. Manufacturer maximums are typically achieved in Eco mode under ideal conditions. What I can say is that the battery is genuinely enormous for this class, and casual daily riding barely dented it.

Charging is where my biggest complaint lives. The Ausom DT2 Pro includes a single 2A charger, and with a battery this size, that means a full charge from empty takes roughly 10 to 13 hours. The good news is that Ausom built in dual charging ports, so you can add a second charger and cut that time roughly in half—down to about 6.5 hours. The bad news is that the second charger is a $72 add-on rather than something included in the box. On a scooter at this price with a battery this big, I’d love to see either a faster charger or a second one included.

A few things to know before you buy. The Ausom DT2 Pro’s handlebar height is not adjustable, so taller or shorter riders should check the 53.5-inch unfolded height against their preferences. There’s no seat included—Ausom sells one as an optional accessory if you want to ride seated. And as mentioned, you get one charger despite the dual charging ports.

None of these are dealbreakers, but they’re worth factoring into the total cost and fit for your needs.

If the DT2 Pro’s price is a stretch, Ausom’s Soccer Season Sale offers promotional pricing on several of its scooters.  Be quick, though; the sale ends July 22nd.

The Ausom DT2 Pro itself is also marked down from its $1,349 MSRP to $1,149 as part of the sale.

Ausom DT2 Pro Electric Scooter

You’ll probably be happy with the Ausom DT2 Pro if you want a genuinely fast, powerful scooter with the torque to flatten steep hills and a battery big enough that range anxiety becomes a non-issue for daily riding. The build quality, ride comfort, braking, and trigger throttle all punch at—or above—the price point, and the 2-year warranty adds peace of mind. This is a scooter for riders who have outgrown entry-level machines and want real performance.

You might regret buying it if you need something light and portable—74 pounds is a lot of scooter to lift into a trunk or carry upstairs—or if you’re an occasional rider who won’t use the power. The non-adjustable handlebar height is worth checking for fit, and if you plan to deplete the battery regularly, budget for the second $72 charger, because the included 2A unit alone is slow.

Ausom DT2 Pro Electric Scooter

Within the brand’s own lineup, the Ausom DT2 Pro sits near the top. The Gosoul2 Pro Dual Motor and K20 Pro Dual Motor offer dual-motor fun at significantly lower prices (especially during the current sale), but with smaller batteries and lower top speeds. The step-up F1 Max moves to a 60V platform for even more performance. For most riders seeking maximum range and near-40-mph capability without jumping to a bigger, heavier 60V machine, the DT2 Pro is the sweet spot.

The Ausom DT2 Pro retails for $1,349 MSRP and is currently on sale for $1,149; it is available directly from the manufacturer.
