TORRAS COOLiFY Cyber Fold AI Neck Air Conditioner Review: Your Personal AC for Surviving Summer Heat

Summer heat is no joke, and lately it seems worse than ever, especially with Florida’s humidity making time outdoors downright miserable. My preferred strategy is really simple: stay inside from June through September. When I do venture out, I move from my air-conditioned house to my air-conditioned car and then to another air-conditioned destination. Unfortunately, some situations still require being outside. Wouldn’t it be nice to bring air conditioning with you? With the TORRAS COOLiFY Cyber Fold AI Neck Air Conditioner, you almost can. Better yet, it isn’t only for summer—it can also help keep you warm when temperatures drop.

What Is It?

The TORRAS COOLiFY Cyber Fold AI Neck Air Conditioner is a wearable neck “collar” that cools the sides and back of the neck while blowing cold air upwards towards the face. It offers various fan (air) speed and cooling settings. It also offers heat, but with no airflow. It comes in two color choices: Shadow Black or Titanium Frost.

Design and Features

The COOLiFY Cyber Fold AI Neck Air Conditioner is the latest in a line of wearable neck fans and AC units. It features a few improvements over the previous Cyber Smart AI-controlled neck air conditioner from 2024. 

What is a wearable neck AC? It’s a horseshoe-shaped collar that blows cold air on your face and cools your neck constantly. How cool is that? (I couldn’t resist)

There are many neck-style fans that can help cool you on warm days. But it takes a bit of added tech to turn that fan into a bona fide air conditioner. Coolify has incorporated what they call “pads” into the body of the TORRAS COOLiFY Cyber Fold, which can get quite cold to the touch. When worn, these cold areas sit against the skin, helping to lower the body temperature around the neck. 

3 semiconductors and 4 high-speed fans cool the face, neck, and back. TORRAS calls this a “360° experience of blowing + cooling + heating (hot compress).” I call it cooling that works—up to a point—in Florida’s heat.

The TORRAS COOLiFY Cyber Fold can bend and fold where it’s flexible for neck sizing. This improves on previous models, which were more fragile in the sizing area.

Let’s discuss the cooling zones. The top of the TORRAS COOLiFY Cyber Fold features 16 vents divided into three zones. Each zone has three fans. You can adjust fan speed and temperature individually in the left and right sections, as well as in the unit’s upper back zone.

When worn, you can feel a cooling breeze at the back of your neck and along the sides of your face. It functions effectively. However, the fans can get loud at higher speeds, though others nearby usually won’t be disturbed.

Another drawback is my tendency to sweat, which might not be an issue for others. My face tends to sweat excessively. While the TORRAS COOLiFY Cyber Fold cools my neck and upper body, it doesn’t stop my face from sweating. I still need to wear a hat with a headband to absorb the sweat. This doesn’t mean the Cyber Fold AI is ineffective; it simply can’t combat Florida humidity affecting my face.

I prefer the TORRAS COOLiFY Cyber Fold’s cooling pads over the fans. The brisk airflow feels good, but the pads actually cool me more effectively. The main, large pad is positioned at the back of my neck, and keeping this area cool makes my upper body feel cooler overall. You can set the temperature for both the pads and fans in five steps: 20/40/60/80/100. Keep in mind, the pads only work when the fans are on; TORRAS mentions they are less effective without the fan’s airflow.

What about the heater part? The TORRAS COOLiFY Cyber Fold’s manual or website doesn’t say much about the heat function, except that it’s “heat-therapy.”

Okay, I can see that, but I think it might be better suited for those chilly fall days worn under a neck scarf. In heater mode, there is no airflow. Only the pads heat up. No, I didn’t test it beyond seeing if it works. It’s August. In Florida. ‘Nuff said.

Did I mention the app? COOLiFY has an app (iOS and Android) that can control settings on the Cyber Fold AI. This can come in handy when it’s worn. Instead of fumbling around to find the buttons, open the app for full access to temperature and fan speed.

 

The app also features “AI Smart Mode” functions that go beyond the simple buttons on the Cyber Fold AI. Along the bottom of the app’s screen are 5 choices: 

• Auto: Uses sensors to read surrounding temperatures and adjusts cooling, heating, or fan intensity.
• ECO: Optimizes power consumption by lowering fans and cooling pads output.
• Alternating: Cycles through cooling zones. This helps prevent “thermal numbness” (where skin becomes acclimated to the constant cold surface). 
• Relief: Cycles between warm and cool temperatures via the semiconductor pads to promote muscle relief (that’s the heating part)
• Interval: Operates the cooling pads and fans on a set pulse or timed cycle to save power, providing periodic cooling.

 

Final Thoughts

The TORRAS COOLiFY Cyber Fold AI Neck Air Conditioner does exactly what it advertises. It helps you feel cooler on insufferably hot (and humid) days. Even though it doesn’t help dry my sweat-producing head, I really miss it when I’m not wearing it.
