Getting accurate health data can be incredibly useful. The Wyze Scale BodyScan smart scale is a more budget-friendly option that includes regional muscle and fat tracking. NO SUBSCRIPTIONS! It is made for people looking for a comprehensive look at their health and uses an eight-electrode system with a built-in, extendable handle for body composition analysis. It analyzes and provides data on individual areas of the body and tracks it over time in the Wyze app.

Design and Features
The overall design of the Wyze Scale BodyScan smart scale is pretty much the same as most bathroom scales. It’s a touch-sensitive scale that turns on and calibrates to zero when you touch it. The handle of the smart scale has four sensors and the scale on the floor four more sensors.
The handle attaches to the scale with a retractable cable and has sensor divots for your thumbs to fit into while it measures your info.
Wyze touts 17 essential metrics that the smart scale measures: body weight, BMI, body fat, muscle mass, muscle rate, body water, physical age, protein, lean weight, bone mass, visceral fat, basal metabolism, subcutaneous fat, fat mass, skeletal muscle mass, segmented muscle mass, and body fat. I’m not a fan of BMI, so I ignore that one. If you’re curious why it doesn’t take much research to see why it’s a poor measure and can be very inaccurate.
On the smart scale display, you can view your weight, body fat percentage, body water, muscle mass, bone mass, BMI, and protein directly. It turns off fairly quickly, so seeing it in the app may be easier.
Installation
To get the full functionality of the Wyze Scale BodyScan smart scale, you will need to install the Wyze app on your phone or tablet. All of Wyze’s products use the same app, so it’s the same app as their security cameras and other devices. Pairing the smart scale with the app was super easy, and it walks you through setup and initial use, and configuration.
Once connected, the Wyze Scale BodyScan will show up in your device list just like any other Wyze device.
See It In Action
Taking pictures while using the smart scale was kind of awkward, but I was able to figure something out. It takes 5-10 seconds for the sensors to do their impedance testing, and this is what it looks like while it’s running.
After completion, the additional six fields appear and become available.
In the Wyze app, all of the gathered data is tracked and can be compared against past results. The longer you use the scale, the more data it gathers and you can track your health progress.
Final Thoughts
The Wyze Scale BodyScan smart scale has impressed me so far with the amount of data that it collects and how full-featured the data analysis and tracking in the Wyze app appears to be. The breakdown of information by different body areas is an interesting way to track things, so it will be interesting to see how it goes over time and with continued usage. I do wish that Wyze had a separate app just for their health devices, because it seems a bit odd to have my bathroom scale on the same app as the cameras watching the exterior of my house. That said, I definitely recommend it, as it captures a lot of good information and there is no subscription!
