Noise is expanding its premium Master Series lineup with a new kind of earbuds: the Master Buds Open. Unveiled at IFA Berlin 2026, these are clip-on open-ear earbuds developed with Sound by Bose Technology.
Instead of fitting inside and sealing the ear canal like traditional true wireless earbuds, the Master Buds Open are designed to sit around the ear. The idea is simple: you can listen to music, podcasts, or calls while still hearing the world around you.
If you want maximum isolation on a plane, a noisy commute, or while working in a loud space, conventional in-ear earbuds will probably remain the better choice. But there are plenty of times when you don’t want to completely block out your surroundings.
That is where open-ear earbuds like the Master Buds Open earbuds can make a lot of sense.
A New Addition to Noise’s Master Series
The Master Buds Open joins the Master Buds, Master Buds 2, and Master Buds Max in Noise’s higher-end audio lineup. With this launch, Noise now has premium options across three main styles of personal audio: in-ear earbuds, over-ear headphones, and open-ear earbuds.
Open-ear headphones have become more popular recently, particularly among people who want to listen for long stretches without the plugged-up feeling that comes with standard earbuds. They can also be a better fit for runners, walkers, commuters, cyclists, and anyone who wants to stay aware of conversations, traffic, announcements, or other nearby sounds.
Noise says its new earbuds use an ergonomic clip-on design intended for all-day comfort. That suggests these are meant to be earbuds you can leave on while working, walking, traveling, or moving through your daily routine, rather than something you wear only for a short music session.
The company is pitching them as a practical option for commuting through busy streets, working from coffee shops, taking calls and the go, and using them during outdoor workouts.
What Sound by Bose Means
The headline feature here is that the Master Buds Open were developed in collaboration with Bose and feature Sound by Bose Technology.
Noise has not revealed the full specifications yet, so several important questions remain. We do not know the driver size, battery life, charging case capacity, microphone setup, Bluetooth codecs, water resistance rating, or whether the earbuds will offer any app-based EQ controls.
Still, Bose’s involvement is worth noting. Open-ear earbuds have a difficult job because they need to produce satisfying sound without creating a seal in your ear. A traditional in-ear earbud can use that seal to improve bass response and block outside noise. Open-ear designs give up some of that immersion in exchange for comfort and awareness.
That does not necessarily mean they sound bad. It just means the goal is different.
With the Noise Master Buds Open, Noise seems to be aiming for audio that works well in the real world. You can listen to a playlist, a YouTube video, or a phone call without feeling disconnected from the people and sounds around you.
Why Open-Ear Audio Can Be Useful
The appeal of an open-ear design is easy to understand once you picture how people actually use earbuds throughout the day.
You might be walking the dog and want to hear approaching cars. You might be in a coffee shop and want to hear when your drink is ready. You might be working at home and still need to hear a family member, a doorbell, or a delivery driver. Or you may simply find regular earbuds uncomfortable after an hour or two.
Clip-on open-ear earbuds can be appealing in these situations. They offer a more casual and less isolating way to listen.
Of course, there are trade-offs. Because they leave the ear canal open, they will likely leak more sound than standard earbuds at higher volume levels. They also may not be the best choice in especially noisy places, since there is no meaningful passive noise isolation and likely no active noise cancellation in the usual sense.
But for users who want to hear their surroundings, those compromises may be part of the point.
Noise Takes the Stage at IFA
Noise chose IFA Berlin for the Master Buds Open debut, which makes sense for a product that represents a bigger push into premium audio and global visibility.
“The Master Series was envisioned as our definitive expression of premium audio, bringing together thoughtful design, exceptional sound and meaningful consumer experiences,” said Amit Khatri, co-founder of Noise.
Khatri said the open-ear category is becoming increasingly important worldwide and that consumers should not have to choose between good audio and awareness of their surroundings.
The company says the Master Series represents its highest-end audio vision, with more emphasis on design, sound quality, and everyday usability. Adding an open-ear model gives Noise a more complete lineup and lets shoppers choose the type of fit and listening experience that works best for them.
Availability and Pricing
Noise says the Master Buds Open will be available beginning in late September 2026 through retail stores, major e-commerce platforms, and the company’s website.
Pricing, full specifications, and exact market availability have not been announced yet. Those details are expected closer to the commercial launch.
For now, the Noise Master Buds Open looks like an interesting new option for people who want something more comfortable and awareness-friendly than standard in-ear earbuds. If Noise can pair the clip-on fit with genuinely good sound from Bose Audio, these could be worth watching when the remaining details arrive.
