Portable power stations usually get attention after the lights go out, but Jackery’s new Red Cross Edition power stations are designed to be a little more proactive. Launching September 29, the HomePower Emergency Pro Series combines three battery-backup models with automated severe-weather charging, a configurable emergency power reserve, and a charitable tie-in with the American Red Cross. The lineup ranges from a 1,024Wh portable unit to a 3,584Wh system that can expand into serious home-backup territory, giving households, first responders, and emergency crews several ways to keep essential equipment running when the grid doesn’t cooperate.
Storm Alerts Can Top Off the Battery Before Trouble Arrives
One of the more interesting additions to the Red Cross Edition models is Storm Alert, a feature intended to solve a familiar portable-power problem: a large battery backup isn’t terribly helpful during an outage if someone forgot to charge it.
Storm Alert uses weather forecast data from the OpenWeather API to watch for incoming severe weather. When the system detects a potential event, the power station automatically begins charging to 100% and sends a notification through the Jackery app.
More importantly, Storm Alert can override existing charging schedules and preset charge or discharge limits. If you normally keep the battery partially charged to manage everyday energy use, for example, an approaching storm can temporarily take priority and fill it completely.
Any system that depends on weather forecasts has obvious limitations. Not every outage comes with advance warning, and not every forecast turns into an emergency. Still, automated charging could help with storms that provide a few hours or days of notice, especially if your power station spends most of its life quietly waiting in the garage.
Emergency Reserve Keeps Some Power Off-Limits
Jackery addresses unpredictable outages with a second feature called Emergency Reserve Mode. Through the app, you can designate between 20% and 100% of the battery’s capacity as an emergency reserve. That portion remains unavailable during normal use until you manually release it using the One-Tap Unlock control.
That could matter if the power station does double duty around the house. You might use it regularly for tools, outdoor equipment, camping, or lowering your reliance on the grid without wanting to discover during an outage that yesterday’s project drained the battery.
Once Emergency Reserve Mode has been used, the system again protects the designated capacity as the battery recharges.
Three Red Cross Edition Power Stations Cover Very Different Needs
All three HomePower Emergency Pro models use lithium iron phosphate, or LFP, battery cells. This battery chemistry is commonly chosen for portable power products because it offers strong longevity and thermal stability.
Jackery rates the batteries for 6,000 charge cycles before declining to 70% of their original usable capacity, which the company equates to about 16 years of daily cycling. As always, real-world battery longevity depends on charging habits, temperatures, loads, and how often you use the system.
The power stations also use Jackery’s Cell-to-Body 2.0 construction, which integrates the battery cells more tightly into the enclosure to reduce size and weight.
Each model includes uninterruptible power supply functionality with a switchover time of 10 milliseconds or less. That means when the grid fails, connected equipment can transition to battery power fast enough that many electronics shouldn’t notice the interruption. That could be important for networking equipment, communications hardware, computers, and compatible medical devices.
Solar panels and gas generators can also serve as charging sources, giving systems options when a prolonged outage makes wall charging irrelevant.
The HomePower 1000 Plus v2 Is the Portable Option
The $749 HomePower 1000 Plus v2 Red Cross Edition is the smallest model, with 1,024Wh of battery capacity and 1,800W of continuous output.
It weighs 23.8 pounds and is 31% more compact than its predecessor, making it the model you’re most likely to move around rather than permanently park beside an electrical panel.
AC fast charging can refill it in about 50 minutes, and four AC outlets provide pure sine wave power suitable for sensitive electronics. Additional Jackery battery packs can expand total storage to up to 11kWh.
That combination could make the 1000 Plus v2 useful for keeping phones, laptops, networking gear, lighting, small appliances, and other essentials running while remaining manageable enough to carry where it’s needed.
The HomePower 2000 Plus v2 Adds More Capacity and Priority Control
The $1,199 HomePower 2000 Plus v2 Red Cross Edition steps up to 2,048Wh of storage and 2,400W of output while weighing 41.4 pounds. Capacity can be expanded to 12kWh.
Jackery estimates that this configuration can provide roughly 10 hours to 2.5 days of support for refrigerators and other important household electronics, depending on battery capacity and what you’ve connected.
The model includes two AC circuits and four grounded outlets, along with a feature called Priority Routing. It lets you decide which connected loads receive power first if total demand gets too high or the battery starts running low.
That’s a small detail with potentially significant consequences. During an outage, keeping a refrigerator, medical device, communications equipment, or critical light running may matter much more than continuing to power whatever happened to get plugged into the other outlet.
The HomePower 3600 Plus Moves Into Home-Backup Territory
The $1,899 HomePower 3600 Plus Red Cross Edition is designed for much larger loads. It starts with 3,584Wh of energy storage and 3,600W of output, with expansion beyond 21kWh.
Two units can link with the Jackery Connector for up to 43kWh of storage and 7,200W of continuous output. The paired system can also support 240V equipment, opening the door to heavier loads such as well pumps, power tools, and some other household systems.
Jackery HomePower 3600 Plus Red Cross Edition
Jackery states that a single HomePower 3600 Plus can operate 95% of common household appliances, although whether any particular appliance will work depends on its continuous and startup power requirements.
The 3600 Plus also carries multiple UL safety certifications and has a claimed self-discharge rate of 5% per year, an important consideration for equipment that may sit unused for months before being called into service.
The Red Cross Partnership Extends Beyond the Branding
The Red Cross Edition lineup is part of Jackery’s broader Power the Rescuers campaign. Rather than simply placing the Red Cross name on the hardware, Jackery plans to contribute 10% of profits from Red Cross Edition products toward deploying Jackery portable power stations to emergency response workers and affected communities.
The effort is meant to support firefighters, medical personnel, utility crews, community organizations, and others working during disasters, while the same hardware is sold to consumers who want emergency power at home.
It’s an arrangement that gives the special-edition branding a more concrete purpose, although prospective buyers will still want to choose primarily according to how much battery capacity and output their own emergency plans require.

The $749 HomePower 1000 Plus v2 Red Cross Edition and $1,199 HomePower 2000 Plus v2 Red Cross Edition will be available beginning September 29, 2026.
The $1,899 HomePower 3600 Plus Red Cross Edition will also be announced for sale beginning September 29, with shipping scheduled to start in early November. Customers can sign up through Jackery for updates on direct availability.
