I recently purchased a Pixel 11 Pro XL. When I purchase a phone for $1,000 to $1,300 (or more), I need an impact-resistant case to protect it from inevitable drops. I initially purchased an inexpensive impact-resistant case, but then I heard from other Gear Diary Pixel owners that TORRAS makes a military-grade drop-protection case with a built-in stand for my Pixel: the TORRAS Ostand Q3 Air case. I wanted to try it out. Now for the important question: do I trust it to protect my phone?

Design and Features
The TORRAS Ostand Q3 Air case makes a good first impression. It’s well-made, with TPU bumpers, and the polycarbonate back is a rigid, translucent matte grey designed to resist fingerprints.
The hinged magnetic metal ring is a really attractive feature. It has dual functions: it serves as a stand and supports MagSafe charging. The ring rotates 360°, so it holds your phone in portrait or landscape. It will stand at nearly a 90° angle to the surface and is adjustable so that it will also sit nearly flat (30° portrait, 15° landscape) with the surface.

The photo below illustrates how translucent the case is.

The back edges are rounded to increase comfort when holding your phone.
Also notice the added corner bumpers. The TORRAS Ostand Q3 Air case has been drop-tested and will protect your phone if dropped from up to 13 ft (4 m).

The case also has an additional protective layer (white layer, as shown below) around the inside edges.

One advantage of this case over others is that it includes another set of power and volume buttons (gold) in addition to the bright orange buttons installed on the case. I preferred the gold buttons. I easily removed the bright orange buttons by popping them out and replaced them with the gold ones.
Each side of the case has a textured area to improve grip.

The case has precise cutouts for the speakers, the charging port, and the microphone.

The following photos illustrate the ring rotating 360° and adjusting to different angles.

The following photo shows the place where the ring lies flat against the back of the case. It struck me that it’s an ideal place for dust to collect (around the hinge too), though I guess that’s true of any case that includes a stand.

Performance: TORRAS Ostand Q3 Air
When I inserted my Pixel 11 Pro XL inside the TORRAS Ostand Q3 Air case, I noticed that it felt fairly lightweight and minimal for a military-drop protection case. I especially like the curved edges on the back. It made my phone feel much more comfortable in my hand than my previous case or even without a case. Because manufacturers are making phones with squared-off edges, I am thankful manufacturers are producing cases with rounded edges.
If you look at the photo below, you’ll notice some fingerprint smudges on the back of the case. The matte gray plastic decreases the likelihood of fingerprints but doesn’t eliminate them. There are also some faint scratches on the back from using it for a couple of weeks.

I had no issues with the placement or size of the cutouts; they are precise as shown in the photos below. They accommodate all of my charging cables as well as the speakers and microphone on my phone.
The photos below also illustrate the curvature of the back edges that improves the comfort when holding your phone.

I thoroughly enjoy having a case with a built-in stand. The stand holds my phone in landscape and portrait positions and offers multiple adjustments to find the perfect viewing angle for different situations. Most cases don’t provide this level of customization. Kudos, TORRAS!

The case has a lip on the front to protect the phone screen and one on the back to protect the cameras. I installed screen protectors on my phone and its cameras, so the lip is actually shallower than it would be for others who don’t use screen protectors.

I had no issues using the case with my MagSafe chargers; it adhered really well and my phone charged normally.

I thought I’d see if the case had strong enough magnets to adhere to any magnetic surface, and lo and behold, it’s stuck to my refrigerator quite well. I was impressed!

I have a few concerns about the case. One is whether or not the ring-stand hinge will last over time. The metal ring is also thin (1.75mm), so it could bend easily. Additionally, the ring stand is metal and can scratch surfaces.
There are a couple of things that I don’t like about the TORRAS Ostand Q3 Air case. The first is the color, and the second is the price tag. I have always been a Pixel phone fan (I love pure Android), and it bothers me that case manufacturers only make gray or black-colored cases for Pixel devices. I’m bored with these colors – I really want something different. In addition, the $65.99 price tag is more than I’ve ever spent on a case. I can see spending $35 or less, but not much more.
The inexpensive cases that I’ve purchased in the past and used for years (~$15 cases) worked really well and protected my previous phones from dozens of drops, so I’m not sure that I can justify the added expense. A real deal breaker would be if the ring stand broke. At this point, I’ve only tested it for a couple of weeks. Only time will tell if it holds up.
At first, I asked, “Do I trust this case to protect my phone?” The answer is yes. I’ve dropped my phone about 2 feet, a couple of times, and the case protected it.
Final Thoughts
The TORRAS Ostand Q3 Air case for the Pixel 11 Pro XL is well-made and includes some impressive features. It’s lightweight and protective, and the rounded back edges significantly improve comfort when I hold my phone. It also adds volume and power buttons. And the pièce de résistance? It includes a highly adjustable metal ring stand that also functions well with my MagSafe chargers.
That said, I have a few concerns and a few things I don’t love. Let’s start with the color. It only comes in grey for the Pixel, which I don’t like. Also, while the matte grey polycarbonate back reduces fingerprints, it’s not fingerprint- or scratch-proof. And will the hinge hold up over time? Furthermore, it’s much more expensive than the drop-protection cases I’ve purchased in the past. If it were $35 or less, I would consider purchasing this case.
It’s hard to find a Pixel phone case that offers great protection and includes a highly adjustable stand that works with MagSafe chargers. The TORRAS Ostand Q3 Air checks all of those boxes. So, if money is no object for you and my concerns about the case don’t bother you, I can recommend it.
The TORRAS Ostand Q3 Air case retails for $65.99; it is available directly from the manufacturer and other retailers, including Amazon.
