ThinkPad X1 devices are known for being thin, light, and powerful, but this year Lenovo is taking them to the next level with new Yoga Laptops that feature Titanium and Carbon exteriors; there’s even a detachable 2-in-1 ThinkPad X12 device!

Lenovo supports the Linux community. That has never been more evident than with their announcement of expanding their certification program that we covered in June to include PCs preinstalled with Ubuntu. There will now be nearly thirty Ubuntu-loaded devices available from Lenovo, including thirteen ThinkStation and ThinkPad P Series Workstations and fourteen ThinkPad T, X, X1, and L series laptops.

There are fast computers, and then there are FAST COMPUTERS. What you or I might consider fast for a consumer is very different than the needs of an architect, graphic designer, game designer, or any other processor-intensive workload. Lenovo and AMD have upgraded the ThinkStation P620 with the speedy and vaguely threateningly-named AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro Processor, putting absolutely top of the line power into one desktop.

Linux may not be the first operating system that springs to mind for the average user, but it has plenty of ardent fans. According to Lenovo’s citations, 2.87% of computer users are opting for Linux, which may not sound like much, but imagine if the entire population of Washington State switched to Linux en masse. Yea, there’s a market there, and Lenovo doesn’t want it left behind.
The Lenovo Smart Frame was one of my favorites new products announced at CES this year. Styled like a professionally matted portrait, the 21.5″ Smart Frame uses AI to curate your photo collection and build custom digital collages. A smartphone app will be available with hundreds of artworks that can be displayed on your Smart Frame, but you can also load your own photos. You can use hand gestures to play, pause, or continue the displayed photos or videos.
If your workspace is anything like mine, you’re probably suddenly in the position of upgrading your home office, because you realized this short-term shutdown is not so short term.
