Right before we left for CES we received a review sample of the Happy Hour Bottoms Up Timepiece. The Bottoms Up is a nice-quality watch with a large, impressive face, a wide, comfortable band and… a bit of a surprise. Here’s a look with a video that will make clear what is special about this watch.
The Hype:
Happy Hour™ was started in 2007 when I was traveling on a long road trip to the East Coast. I was wondering “what on Earth could make it easier to have a cold beer?” (Yes, it had been a long trip). I looked at my watch and my mind started going. Countless 12 packs later, hours of design & research and many meetings with drinkers, lawyers and friends, I had come up with a product unlike any other.
Happy Hour™ is built for those who want to have a little fun opening their beverage with a very stylized watch. The patented buckle allows you to pop-open your favorite beverage with nothing more than a flick of the wrist—and without taking off your watch.
Available in 3 colors, the Bottoms Up is the latest Happy Hour watch featuring the patented bottle-opening buckle. Stainless steel, water-resistant and built to last, the Bottoms Up will keep those beers flowing.
Since the selling point of the Bottoms Up is the bottle opener I truly expected the actual watch to be crap. It isn’t. The watch’s movement is a Citizen 2035 that is water-resistant to 5 ATM. The case is brushed stainless steel with etched “happy hour” back and stainless crown. The face has nickel-plated hands with mineral crystal cover and applied indices. The band is smooth calf leather with snaps. And the buckle? The buckle is a “patented Happy Hour™ metal buckle”. In all it is a quality timepiece that looks good and feels great.
But again, the selling point of the timepiece is the bottle opener built into the band. How does it work?
