TYLT ENERGI Sliding Power Case for iPhone 6 Plus Review

For $99.99, the TYLT ENERGI Sliding Power Case for iPhone 6 Plus offers both a thin, protective case and a 3,500mAh external battery slider that offers an additional 85% battery life. When you need to travel light, just use the inner case. When you need some extra power, you slide on the Power Sleeve and keep going.

We’ve looked at the TYLT ENERGI Sliding Power Case for other devices. Each model offers a thin, protective inner case and a hard battery sleeve that slips over it. This approach is ideal since it means you can have the extra battery life when you need it but aren’t locked into having the extra weight and bulk on your phone 24/7. This is especially important for me since my iPhone 6 Plus always to run out of battery life early to mid-afternoon each day. (Honestly, I’ve tried applying all the battery optimization tips and still run out of battery life fairly often.

From TYLT:

It’s no question the iPhone 6 Plus is a big phone, even causing fashion brands to consider enlarging the pockets on jeans. This is where the TYLT Energi Sliding Power case shines, providing an additional 3500 mAh of useable power in a removable, slide-off design – similar to how a rocket ditches its booster. The Energi’s dual layer co-molded inner case protects both the front and back of your phone from serious drops, ensuring your phone is never left unprotected, yet remains streamlined to fit into your pants pocket.

The case and slider come in black and serve up 3500mAh of Lithium Polymer battery life whenever it is needed. Of course the TYLT ENERGI Sliding Power Case for iPhone 6 Plus ships with a Micro-USB Charge and Sync Cable. I’m a huge fan of TYLT’s ENERGI Sliding Cases Power cases and this one is no exception. My only frustration with my iPhone 6 Plus is the battery life– (okay that’s not entirely true since the frequent crashes in iOS 8 are starting to really piss me off)– and this case/battery combo is ideal for the way I use my phone. I’m doing a bit of traveling now and this is the case and battery combo I’m using.

Worth noting is the fact that the inner protective case has a sizable opening that should work with most headphone jacks. Of course, the battery slider is thick and may be a challenge if your headphones plug is particularly thick. Then again, for someone like me who tends to use Bluetooth headphones with his mobile device this is far from an important consideration. It you do use wired headphones and use something with a plug that is significantly larger than the ones from Apple you may want to check before buying this. You can learn more and order yours.

What I Like: Gives flexibility of extra power without needing the added bulk all the time; Inner protective case protects well without bulk; Sliding battery goes on easily and adds significant extra run time; Even with the sliding battery the package isn’t too bulky

What Needs Improvement: Only available in black; All headphone plugs may not work when using the battery slider
