If you have an Apple Watch or an Apple Watch Sport, then you didn’t received a nice stand from Apple for charging your watch when it’s not being worn. Maybe you’re happy with your watch lying on the bedside table or desk, but maybe you’d rather it be on something a little bit more attractive, something like the Griffin WatchStand.
The WatchStand is made to work with both the 1 meter and 2 meter Apple Watch replacement Magnetic Charging Cables. It is also made to work with the slightly different OEM chargers included with the Watch Sport and Apple Watch.
Accommodating both semi-flexible and fully flexible bands, WatchStand securely displays and charges your Apple Watch vertically or horizontally for the perfect view.
A rubber spacer is included so that the original and replacement Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Cable will fit inside the stand; the Watch sport has a slightly thicker disk on its cable, so the spacer isn’t needed.
The 4.25″ x 4.25″ base is weighted so it will stay in place, and the approximately 6″ tall center column (measured at the highest point) is cleverly designed to hide the extra cable once your charging disk has been inserted.
Can you see how the Apple Watch charging disk doesn’t quite come out to the edge of the black plastic frame?
That’s why you need the included rubber spacer. It’s easy to slide it in place, pushing the charging disk out to the proper level.
Much better. The USB portion of the cable is threaded through the disk’s seat, out to the spiral wrap on the center column.
Once you’ve wrapped the extra cable around the column (leaving some so it can be easily plugged into a power source), you feed the column into its outer sleeve.
Then you feed the USB cable through the base …
… now you are set up for charging!
The Apple watch perches securely on the magnetic charger; I have the sport band on mine, so this orientation works perfectly.
You can also turn the center column 90º in either direction so that it can hold watches with bands that aren’t as flexible. As an added bonus, the base of the stand has a lip which forms an iPhone dock.

Sure, my Apple Watch would charge just fine lying on my bedside table, but I like this elegant solution of having my watch propped and on display on the Griffin WatchStand. While it’s true that you’ll have to supply your own Magnetic Charging Cable, the WatchStand is priced so that if you want to order a spare cable (so you have one on hand for travel), it won’t be that big of a deal.
