Auvi-Q Epinephrine Injectors Recall Alert!

If you have an Auvi-Q auto injector, call your doctor immediately for a new prescription for an epipen. Sanofi Aventis is recalling ALL Auvi-Q injectors due to a potential flaw that may prevent medicine from being injected properly. They will reimburse you for the costs of the competitor’s replacement, so save your receipts.

Auvi-Q Epinephrine Injectors Recall Alert!

If your epinephrine injector looks like this, replace it!

Head to AuviQ.com for specifics, but in a nutshell the company received several reports of the injectors not working properly. No one has died as a result, but if you’re having an anaphylactic reaction you don’t want to worry whether or not your epinephrine is being injected. If you have a reaction before replacing the Auvi-Q, use it anyway and immediately call 911. It’s better to use it than not use anything, but you should replace it ASAP.

There’s very little detail so far, but Sanofi is constantly updating their FAQs. Call your insurance, call your doctor, and head to your pharmacy!
