You don’t have to be a law enforcement officer to shop at 5.11 Tactical, although that is the company’s largest demographic. Many of the items they offer are perfect for other aspects of our lives including camping, hunting, hiking, and even home use. I found the TPT P5 14 Flashlight to be one such item.

I was looking for a lightweight flashlight with significant illumination and I found it in the P5 14. It features an impact-resistant polymer body with Cree XM-GB LED lamp with an ANSI FL1 lumen rating of 273. The majority of the beam is concentrated in the center with no dead spot at a distance like my old Streamlight incandescent bulb. The P5 14 is 9.1 inches long, 2.2 inches in diameter and weighs just 9.2 ounces with the six AAA batteries installed. It will last 4.5 hours (on bright) and throws a beam up to 255 meters. It is also water-resistant to IPX4 standards.

The flashlight easily slides in and out of work pockets or pouches and thanks to the head design it will not roll away when laid down like that other aforementioned unit. It also features charge ports for charger base when using 5.11 rechargeable NiMH battery pack (sold separately) and the battery compartment is O-ring sealed. The switch of the TPT P5 14 flashlight offers three modes: High, Low, and Strobe.

I highly recommend this flashlight for those seeking a lightweight, high-output unit that is not designed specifically for tactical use. This is a great overall light for everyday use at work, at home, or out in the wilderness. MSRP is $79.99 and it is available at www.511Tactical.com.
