I’ve been using Blue Microphones products for some time when making recordings at home. So when Blue burst onto the scene with their first headphones, the Mo-Fi, I was intrigued. (Read our review.) The headphones looked impressive. Good news is, they sounded just as impressive. Now the company has announced their first wireless headphones. The Satellite takes everything the company has learned about headphones and cuts the cord.
Satellite are a pair of Bluetooth over-ear headphones that are designed for the discriminating audiophile. Yes, these Bluetooth headphones are intended for someone looking for a high-quality listening experience but wanting a portable design that doesn’t wrap you in a mess of cables. They are, of course, the perfect move for Blue now that Apple has removed the 3.5mm headphone jack from their phones.
Satellite aren’t just any wireless headphones. No, these have two drivers for each ear. One is there to deliver killer audio. The other is there to activate noise canceling. By separating the two modes of functionality- delivering sound and killing a vibrant sound- Blue hopes to deliver improved audio experience that doesn’t have the background “active noise cancellation noise” disrupting the experience. Add in 44mm custom-tuned, dynamic drivers and you have the makings of a great audio experience.

Mo-Fi: Blue’s first step into headphones.
One of the standout features of the Mo-Fi was the inclusion of an analog amplifier. This helps the Mo-Fi sound amazing. The Satellite offers the same trick plus it connects wirelessly through Bluetooth 4.1. Add in AptX support and the ability to connect through a standard 3.5mm headphone jack and you have a pair of headphones that’s are ready for anything. The only thing missing is a cable that connects via Lightning.
