I do a lot of holiday cooking, and it doesn’t take much for my oven and stove-top to overflow. Since mashed potatoes are usually part of the menu, I’ve got a recipe that involves making them a day before and then reheating them in a slow cooker. This year, I gave the Midea Locking Lid 6-Quart Slow Cooker a try.

Made with a locking lid so that it can be safely transported from your kitchen to a potluck or tailgate party, the Midea slow cooker includes the stainless-clad 6-quart model and a cute little 0.6-quart mini warmer crock.

The Midea has a removable ceramic casserole pot which makes for easy cleaning.

The front of the Midea slow cooker has a blue LCD which displays the remaining cook time. Settings include Low, Medium, High, and Warm; the bottom row has a Cook Mode button, a Cook Time button, and a Stop button.

The 0.6-quart mini warmer does not have a removable crock, and it doesn’t have any buttons on the front. It’s made specifically for heating and keeping your dips, sauces, and gravies at the perfect serving temperature.

The mini warmer does not have a removable crock, so make sure that you don’t get the cable wet or immerse the pot when cleaning.

This is the recipe that I use for my make-ahead mashed potatoes. I boiled the potatoes and mashed them with the ingredients the day before Thanksgiving, and then I stuck the crock in the fridge.

On Thanksgiving day, I pulled the crock out of the fridge and put it in the Midea on low for 4 hours.

It was perfect; my potatoes were ready to serve for Thanksgiving dinner, and it didn’t take up any extra room on my stove. Since Thanksgiving, I’ve also used it to make pot roast. This is my favorite pot roast recipe, and the results were delicious!
