Ambiance is everything, which is why Philips Hue lights have been so successful – they let you transform a room into a different mood with custom colors. Now Philips Hue is aiming to take things to the next level with Philips Hue Sync.

Philips Hue Sync offers an immersive light show that matches what you’re watching on-screen. So if for example, you’re watching a music video with red tones, your Philips Hue Lights will match those red tones and pulsate to the beat of the music.

“Following several entertainment pilots, we’ve refined the way lighting can be used with games, music, and video. Philips Hue Sync offers a unique way to simply match light effects to consumer’s content in a fast and synchronized way, delivering an engaging, immersive experience,” said Jasper Vervoort, Head of Marketing and Product Management, Home Systems and Luminaires at Signify.

Philips has already partnered with companies like Disney to make their Philips Hue lighting system perfectly sync with the music video from Disney’s Cappella band, “Immortals”. We tried Philips Hue Sync ourselves with some of our favorite music videos, and we found that the on-the-fly results are impressive and quite accurate.

Philips Hue Sync is a game changer for video games, and movies too. Not only does this feature extend the usefulness of Philips Hue’s colorful light bulbs, but they make what you’re watching even more immersive — essentially your TV or computer display gets to spill out onto to the rest of the room.
