Home security is no longer only the realm of expensive monthly subscriptions but something you can install and monitor yourself if you wish. Comcast Xfinity has your back with a new program called Self Protection that lets you monitor your front door/back door/dog in the kitchen, all with continuous recording for only $10/month.

You’ll need an Xfinity camera with Self Protection, and those are either $120 upfront or $5/month for 2 years. This makes the whole program fairly budget-friendly since you can spread the cost out at only $15/month for everything needed. If you find that you want to expand to a more robust security system, Xfinity can integrate the cameras into their Xfinity Home security system down the line if you choose, though that would be obviously a higher cost.

This is a great concept that I could see working as an easy stopgap for someone who just wants to keep an eye on a vulnerable part of their home or to see what their kids get up to when they think no one’s watching.
