A good pair of shorts should look good, be comfortable and be tough enough to take whatever your warm-weather activities can throw at them. The LIVSN Flex Canvas Shorts cover all those bases and more. I’ve worn them hiking, mowing the lawn, and out to dinner. They were up to it all. That makes them my favorite shorts right now.
At $79, the LIVSN Flex Canvas Shorts are more expensive than the shorts I normally wear. But they are so comfortable and tough that I can confidently say they are worth the expense.
When I first pulled out the shorts, I was struck by how thick and rough the material was. I had forgotten that they are made from canvas. Despite that, however, when I put them on, I was surprised by how comfortable they were. The size 34 review sample fit perfectly. That was, in part, thanks to the gusseted crotch.
The fabric used to construct the shorts doesn’t have any stretch, but the design makes that unnecessary. Whether I was wearing them to hike or sitting in them while writing on my computer, they are comfortable as any shorts I have ever worn.

LIVSN’s custom EcoFlex Canvas is a 7.3oz duck canvas composed of 58% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton, 40% Recycled Polyester, and 2% spandex. The cotton gives it a familiar feel, while the polyester adds strength and durability to the fabric and helps the shorts dry faster.
LIVSN claims that the spandex “allows for a full range of motion.” And while, as previously noted, the shorts don’t feel like they offer much stretch, I imagine that this bit of spandex is part of the reason they are so comfortable.
The shorts have an 8.5-inch inseam. It is long enough that they don’t look like “short-shorts” but not so long that they restrict my movement.
Hidden beneath the hem is a line of reflective tape. By flipping up the bottom of the shorts, you add some visibility if you are out at night. It is a neat feature that adds just a bit of safety if you are out riding your bike at dusk or taking the dog for a late-night walk.
The front pockets are deep and lined with the same breathable material used for the lining. This adds to the comfort when you wear them in the summer heat.
Both back pockets are zippered for added security. These aren’t specifically designed to be travel shorts, but this added security feature makes them ideal travel shorts.
Finally, LIVSN added reinforcements to the various stress points on the shorts so they will last a long time.

I wore the shorts for a few days and was surprised by how comfortable they were. I mowed the lawn in 92-degree heat. By the time I was done, I was soaked, yet the shorts still looked good. The next day I wore them when we went for a four-mile hike in the woods; they were comfortable and moved with me, and I was surprised by how breathable they were. I then wore the same shorts out to dinner. With a nice merino wool Polo shirt, they dressed up just fine.
