What’s the most important thing to consider when searching for a new mattress? Is it foam vs. coil construction, or whether or not the mattress runs cool or warm, or maybe you want a mattress built in the USA? Lucky for you, the new Serta Arctic Premier Mattress checks all the boxes.

Serta Arctic Premier Mattress construction

The new Serta Arctic Premier Mattress features the Reactex System, which is exclusive to the Arctic and provides 15x better cooling for more comfortable sleep, even during the hot summer. I’d say “Arctic” is a pretty apropos name for this mattress, wouldn’t you say?

Studies have shown that hot sleep can hinder your ability to rest properly, affecting your overall quality of life. Insufficient sleep can negatively impact your life via irritability, increased stress, lowered creativity, and more.

Serta touts the Arctic as a mattress unlike all of the other cooling mattresses because it does more than just provide a “cool touch,” offering all-night cooling relief.

The Reactex system features three layers of cooling technology that work in tandem to pull heat deep into the mattress and away from your body which helps your body stay cool. Serta claims that the top of the mattress can feel about five degrees cooler than leading cooling mattresses, thanks to the Reactex system.

Serta was kind enough to send us a review sample of their Arctic Premier Plush Hybrid model in King size to test out so we could give our honest opinion. Initially, I was skeptical because I had never slept on one of these new-fangled foam mattresses, but my concerns were quickly put to rest, literally.

The mattress was delivered via white-glove service, where they placed it on our bed frame and removed all of the packaging; immediately, I could tell that this was a higher-quality mattress, just looking at its 14.5″ height!

There are actually five layers of material packed into this mattress, and it all adds up to a seriously comfortable night’s sleep; the layers include:

All night cooling with the Serta Arctic Premier Mattress

The Plush Hybrid Serta Arctic Premier Mattress is beautiful on its own, though that’s not typically how you judge a mattress, now is it? Immediately after receiving the mattress, we jumped on to give it a quick mid-afternoon test lie down, and it felt great. The foam molded to our bodies, which made the bed feel super comfortable right away.

The beauty of it is that we haven’t noticed any sagging where we typically sleep every night, as we got with our old standard pillow-topped coil mattress, so it seems the foam is supportive but always returns to its natural shape.

My wife is very picky with her mattresses. She hates sleeping in a hotel because she’s always worried that the mattress won’t be good enough and she won’t get a decent night’s sleep.

When sleeping on a new mattress, she’s used to being sore during the time it takes her body to get used to the new sleep surface; however, that sore period never happened with the  Plush Hybrid Serta Arctic Premier Mattress. The mattress started as comfortable, and it has remained comfortable in the couple of months we’ve been testing it.

Design on the Serta Arctic Premier Mattress

Our sleep has been restful and never hot, which is what Serta has aimed for here with the Arctic Mattress series. While we do feel some vibrations on the other side of the bed when one of us gets in or out or tosses and turns (it’s not as motionless as those old commercials with the wine glass), we feel it a lot less than we did in our old mattress. The Serta Arctic Premier Mattress is great for sleeping, thanks to the comfort and quiet.

Our only complaint is that the Serta Arctic Premier Mattress came with a fairly strong chemical smell; it did dissipate, but it took a while for the smell to go away completely. We could even smell it on our dog when she came downstairs after napping on our bed during the day. This wasn’t the end of the world, but it would be nice not to have to deal with that smell for the first month or so of owning a new mattress.

We’re extremely happy with our new Plush Hybrid Serta Arctic Premier Mattress; it’s built really well, extremely comfortable, stays cool at night, and it’s even designed and built in the USA.

The Serta Arctic Premier Mattress is available in Twin XL, Queen, King, and California King sizes, although the Twin XL and California King sizes are currently showing as sold out. The 13.5″ Arctic version of the mattress is available in Plush Foam or Medium Hybrid, and the 14.5″ Arctic Premier version is available in Firm Foam or Plush Hybrid. They also have a line of complementary cooling accessories such as memory foam pillows, mattress protectors, and sheets that work together to help keep you cool all night long.
