The Lowdown

The 8″ Vosteed Morgan Chef’s Knife has proven its worth with each meal in our home. Fresh meats, cooked meats, vegetables — there isn’t anything it won’t easily slice! The weight and balance are perfect, and the 8″ size is not too large or too small for any kitchen task. In fact, I have become very protective of it, only letting my wife use it to make sure it is not abused.  On top of that, I hand wash it after each use and store it in the included sleeve.

Cons

One of the most underrated kitchen tools is often the knife. Quality knives make so many tasks better while cooking. I prefer an all-around style knife that can slice, dice, chop and cut anything we plan to cook; the 8″ Vosteed Morgan Chef’s Knife has proven to be the workhouse I have been looking for.

The Morgan Series of knives from Vosteed features a razor-sharp edge, full tang construction, and ergonomics that make cooking easy and comfortable. The 8″ Vosteed Morgan Chef’s Knife is well balanced at a 1:1 handle-to-blade weight and weighs 7.1oz.

I found this knife to be comfortable to use doing any task; it is not too heavy, it has a great feel, and the balance makes it easy to use.

The Vosteed Morgan Chef’s Knife features 3-layers of 9Cr18MoV steel, providing durability and edge retention. The knife is sharpened with a 12-degrees shallower angle on one side and an 18-degrees steeper angle on the other side, making the blade extremely sharp; it will hold its edge through many uses.

The G10 handle has a non-slip feel and is ergonomically designed for comfort. The handle should last forever, providing secure and comfortable control.

The Vosteed Morgan Chef’s Knife made short work of trimming two large briskets. To be honest, we’ve never replaced the knife set that we received as a wedding gift many years ago; it’s not the greatest quality, but sentimentally won out. However, the truth is that when using it, I always struggle when trimming large cuts of meat.

The Vosteed Morgan Chef’s Knife, on the other hand, cuts like butter.

To be honest, I had forgotten how handy a quality knife could be in the kitchen. No matter what we throw at it, the Vosteed Morgan Chef’s Knife cuts it with ease and has become a workhorse in our house.

I love the balance and weight of the knife. It makes for great control for thick or thin cuts.
